List of mods that would serve a much better purpose:

• ECU flash
• full exhaust from a reputable brand
• suspension
• rear sets
• clip-ons
• forged wheels (or carbon fiber) if you got extra money

That's just scratching the surface. Lots of other things you can do, and many people do, since modding is fun like you said....but a dash?? Haven't come across a single person that wanted a fancier dash so far lol

It’s not about wanting a “fancier” dash as you put it… just a darkened one. Swapping what’s black for white and what’s white for black. It’s an extremely simple thing that should sound so exotic. This may be my first ZX6R but not my first motorcycle, I’m aware of the dozens of mods people make. I just had a question about what’s standard or not in 2021 and if I can’t be curious about it not being standard, then crucify me for having an imagination, expectations, and ingenuity.

Ahh I see. I misunderstood. Thought you wanted one of the fancy TST dashes found on more expensive bikes. If that's all you're looking for, sounds like that film kit posted above is the way to go. Interesting that Kawasaki has on some dashes, like the Ninja 400 and 650, maybe others too, where the font is white and the background is dark. Hard as fuck to see on a sunny day though, and one of the biggest complaints that I and other people had about the dash displays on the 400. So I guess tread carefully if you really want to switch it. My ZX6R dash is much easier to see clearly when it's sunny. It would be nice if you could switch back and forth with the push of a button though.

Yeah the push of a button sounds like it’d just be simple to have as standard these days for that type of thing. I think the TFTs are too much for my taste at the moment. Your boy wants to be able to see when I become a geezer 😂 thanks for the info my guy!

Might be worth scrounging a spare display to experiment with…. Looks like that’s probably not something that you would be able to make repeated changes to.

Looks to be just the orientation of the polariser and based on the size of the sheets you would be able to do multiple attempts. Shouldn't be a big deal. But not something I could be bothered attempting...

You can do this with ALL displays that use polarizers. LCDs for example.
