Since it's rated JASO-MA, I'll give it a shot this time. $13 for 5 quarts is the least expensive option I see out there. As hot as it is in VA, I should be okay with slightly thicker base oil than the 10w-40 I typically run.

If it's markedly different than the Mobil 1 synthetic I've had in there for the last year, I'll go back to synthetic.... or before winter. Whichever comes first.

I use T6 in my racebike, so I'm not questioning your choice of oil. I am questioning your statement of it's working fine so far. How do you know it's working fine? Just because your engine appears to be running the same doesn't mean that your surfaces inside your engine might not be wearing at a faster rate.

Anyone who thinks they know how well an oil is working just by trying it a few times in there bike is delusional. The only way to know is to either get your used oil analyzed by a lab or tear down the engine and do a visual inspection.

Going to use 5w-40 T6 in my next oil change, it shouldn't be an issue as it meets JASO-MA and sport bike riders have been using it for years. This is one of those posts where you will have a few naysayers but the oil guys (guys who actually work in that field) have all stated Rotella T6 is fine for our engines.

I have Shell Rotella 15W-40 in mine, time will tell if it is working out. I bought an extended filter so I can just change the oil every few track days for a decent price. At the track, my bike pretty much stays at the high temp range so no need for a thinner startup oil.

I was using T6 in the 650 and while it worked, I noticed the shifting would get notchy after only 2K miles so I figured I'd try to get more oil life.

Mattel, what would we do without these oil/tire/octane type threads?

PS, it was still twitching so we had to make sure it was really dead :devious
