It's a good habit to change it 3-4k miles. It's a tad different then a car, these bikes run hot, the transmissions share the oil with the engine and it spins anywhere from 7-16k rpms so it's quiet taxing on oils. I change mine every 3k with Motul 300v 10w-40 and a oem oil filter.

Well I changed my oil every 400 miles on my supermoto bike lol and got kindda old fast . I plan on changing the oil every 2000-2200 when I get the bike . The thing is oil breaks down lot sooner than people think and just because your oil hasnt turned black yet doesnt mean its not broken down and doesnt need changing. I think its best to change it pretty regularly in any race bike . To me oil is cheap and I love workin on my bikes anyway but if I was type person that had to take it to dealer everytime then I probbly go longer on oil changes lol. During breakin I usally change oil couple times within first few 100 miles just to getter cleaned out good on new bikes.

Yeah thats a lot of changin oil but thats what the shop manual calls for and thats for street use not track. Its barely legal to be on street . Its pretty much a full race bike with blinkers. Husqvarna 510smr 240lbs and 70hp its a very fun bike but it should be sold tomorrow then I get my zx6r. The supermoto is a blast but I cant go far and I run outta gas lol plus oil changes are starting to get annoying and so are valve checks. Its a very high maintenace bike but I'll miss her forsure :(

the smart thing to do is to change the oil, run it for 3000 or so, have it analyzed and see if you can go longer or if you need to change more often. i havent done that, yet, but i will be doing it soon. its the only way to know if you are not changing your oil enough, or if you run it way too long.

You know thats a very good idea and be sure to post results plzs. I havnt read much on what oil people are usin in zx6r but my current bike I've tried several different oils but my bike loved this Castrol Power RS Racing 4T Engine Oil . So maybe I try this in the zx6r Castrol Power RS R4 Superbike Synthetic Engine Oil. Anyone try this ?
