I'm on a 2007 zx6r and noticed the other day I'm runnin Tokico brakes in back and Nissin in the front. Thought it was an upgrade from the kid I bought it off of then I realized another 07' at bike night had same set up. Anybody know why Kawi decided to run Nissans in front and tokico in back? my buddys 2006 has all tokico as does my dads 2009...confused

if you check the 06, calippers are tokico but the master cylinder at the brake lever is nissin, is not necessary to have all brake system with same brand, you can assemble diferent parts, our discs are kawasaki, there are several brands for discs too, i think they just think that tokicos rear brake is better than nissins and vice versa on the front

I'm guessing it's part performance and part economics. The '98 has 6 pot tokicos up front with a nissin master. Pretty sure the rear is a full Nissin setup.
There's probably several other Kwaks in the range that different combinations of the same parts

I had no issues with my '06.One time i braked so suddenly that i landed on my tank...very hard...I had to stop cause of the "pain"...
I was very satisfied.Only upgrade was brembo pads.

Kawi always had problems with tokico brakes 'cause the pistons are steel that's why they made the switch to Nissin for the aluminum caliper pistons for reliability.
I thought the change was because of the 4 pad per piston thing. Those pads are more expensive and i suppose they wanted something with cheaper replacement parts(pads).Mine had over 80.000km with stock lines and only maintenance were pads and fluid. They worked just fine.

Am pretty sure 07-08zx6r come stock with nissin front calipers!! So yours must have been changed at some point!!
