Battery Removal Question

Hello all, I am new to the forum. I am actually helping a friends with his ZX6r, (I have an EX500) He does not have an owners manual. I want to remove the battery for winter storage, and I am quickly finding out this may not be as easy as my bike (or many other bikes for that matter)

What is the easiest way to remove the battery? It seems like I need to take off the right side plastics, and possibly remove some tank bolts?

Am I missing something? Seems weird that Kawi would make something so simple as battery removal so difficult. :O

Thank you!

you dont say how old the 6r is?
on mine (05/06) you have to remove the tank to remove the battery, you dont need to remove the tank completely, just lift it all high enough to get the battery out. mind the tank rubbers when refitting as these can drop off into the engine area.

welcome by the way :)
Thank you!

The bike is an '07.

what year is the motorcycle?
on my 03 636 its under drivers seat so you only remove the drivers seat and its right there. takes two mins to remove it.
I don't think the seat removes that easily on this bike (e.g. with the key) Sorry, I've only had this thing in my garage for a couple of days now, haven't tinkered with it too much yet :)
