Ohlins has the best reviews ive seen for the 13+; however they are quite pricey... Thats the reason why mine does not have one.

 

I've got a GPR v4, installed by previous owner. I do love it, since it has paid for itself during a little wobble at the track.

Downsides though: I had to send it in to get serviced once after it started leaking oil (not blaming GPR on this one), but the folks at GPR are quick and reasonably priced. Also needs to be removed when removing the fuel tank, but it's a quick 3 bolts and doesn't lose any adjustment.

Oh, and the key most likely needs to be shaved for better access to the ignition.

haha, if I had my choice from the start I may have gone with the Ohlins for the sleeker profile and good reputation but it probably costs a fair amount more.

 

I'm running a Ohlins SD021 Steering damper with OEM Kawasaki mounting brackets bought off EBay new Think I paid $399 for it Thought it was a Deal so I picked it up.

 

how much did you pay for the mounting bracket, or was it included with the damper.

 

Using GPR. Paid 330 on sale at Amazon for the kit. It seeps a little oil when heating up but not a big deal, they said it was normal.

Mine looks like Zixxer's as well. I just bought a used one from a '10 off of ebay for 80 bucks, then ordered the triple tree bracket from the dealer and it all mounts up just fine. All in all paid about $200 total. It does need to be revalved though.

 

Bought a Gpr and sold it. Was leaking almost right out of the box. Got it rebuilt. Felt it was too intrusive even on its lowest setting.

 

:rant Mine started to leak this week after 6 months of use. Now I have to send it for a rebuild.

 

I have never felt like my bike needs one (2013). I have ridden the bike hard at the track and canyons. Never felt any head shake other than the typical front wheel loft and set down wobble . Not needed IMO.

 

Im a huge fan of the Scotts Steering stabilizer, however they don't offer it for the +13'. I emailed them and they said they don't offer it and don't plan to anytime soon (i.e. they never will). Im hoping they get flooded with enough emails for it that that will develop a mounting kit for it

I use the GPR v4. Love it. It has seeped a tiny bit of oil but it still holds the bars nicely. I have mine turned up to 13 out of 20, and as far as being intrusive...good! It should be a pain to maneuver at low speed but I shouldn't ever be at "low speed" on the track

It is most definitely needed on the tracks the CMRA races on. The CMRA requires a steering damper anyway for all race bikes so it's easy to justify. Before I started racing l told myself I would never come onto the front straight of TWS without a damper ever again.

 

I don't want an intrusive dampener because it doesn't allow the motorcycle to right itself, if the front end is nailed to stake the bike is going to low side with any type of disturbance of the front end.

 

I prefer the Scotts damper too, hopefully we can pursuade them to develop a mount

 

Scotts for sure but sadly not available, yet.
the OEM Ohlins are WAY under dampened. Completely useless. You'll need to get it re-valved.

Like I mentioned before, I felt the damper was a little too stiff in the low range and was leaking oil so after contacting GPR I sent it away for a rebuild and lighter damping.

First time rebuild with GPR is free as long as you send a copy of the purchase receipt.

I requested lighter oil and I am very happy with the adjustment range now.

 

bought the GPR from revzilla a while back...haven't had a chance to install it yet. I didn't know the leak at times?
