From the factory the 2013 636 is definitely more street focused. I've made some adjustments and mods to have it more track focused: suspension, sprockets, dynotune, and of course rider mods.

This bike is fun on the track and responds well, especially after a properly setup suspension. Thankfully TC can be turned off, my right hand is my TC. I like the slightly smoother power delivery for those mid-turn minute changes, and then when you want to get up and go, just twist.

Also note the 13+ has a narrower tank towards the seat. Personally, I find it more comfortable.
Nonsense, it's the same tank and seat, they are interchangeable.

I just got a 2011 ZX6R to use as my track bike. This thread is a good read. I was fortunate to get a killer deal from my shop, this has been race built. It has a full Ohlins suspension, Akra race, PCV with Secondary Fuel module. Brembo upgrade, quickshifter, rearsets, alum tank etc. I have to see if they have the dyno sheet. I am debating installing the autotuner or not. I go to Pocono on the 17th with this bad boy.

Not sure if you saw the title this is not the intro or post up your bike thread....I'm guessing you have nothing to add to the discussion.

Are you sure ...? It's not the same tank, same seat. I've put my track tank and my seat on buddies 13.

Yeah, same tank. Maybe it feels narrower or looks narrow because of the frame fairings on the 13+.

As a side note, the 09-12 do seem a bit narrower IMO because of the fairings. One parked next to me at work some weeks ago and that's the first thing I noticed.

They are about the same width too. I think any width difference here is negligible.

The 09-12 has a very stubby front end and the nose comes down suddenly where the headlights are. The front end on the 13-14 are much smoother and come out very smoothly.

However.... even though the cowls and rear seats are interchangable, the tail section of the 13-14 IS wider than the 09-12 by about 3/4 of an inch or so.

The seat is exactly the same but the tank sides where you place your inner thighs is slightly more narrow. If you measure the bottom width where you would place the centre tank protector, it's about 1cm narrower. Makes a difference for shorties like me - 5'4 & 30' inseam hahaha.. My mates noticed the same thing at the bike expo. I find the 1199 Panigale more comfy but not the price tag [emoji1][emoji1][emoji1]

Or Aussie models are different lol. This is what I noticed when I was test riding between mine and pre 13's.

They use the same frame.

2009-2012 was a radical departure from the traditional Kawasaki approach to building supersports. In the past Kawasaki had always built bikes that weren't afraid to admit they sacrificed some racetrack *edge* to be better street bikes than their competitors, with plusher suspension and more midrange-biased engines. The 2009-2012 were attempts by Kawasaki to stray from that formula and build bikes to compete directly with the likes of the R6 and CBR600RR, which made no compromises and were extremely racetrack focused. The 2013 was a return to Kawasaki's traditional way of doing things.

The Ninja line has ALWAYS been about building supersports that were also excellent street bikes (for a supersport, anyway). They were never as "racy" as their competitors and they didn't try to be. The 2009-2012 was simply a short-lived departure from that philosophy.

So pick your poison. Do you want a supersport bike that also performs great in day to day riding? Or do you want to throw that last bit of practicality out the window for something that's 100% racetrack focused? That's really what it all comes down to.

Was that a copy/paste or just really good writing?

Main reason I wanted the '09 when the "first tide" reports came out. I still love mine and never think about needing some "more" in terms of performance.

636 is definitely faster. I was at the track this weekend and there was a guy on one, -1,-1 gearing (yes, thats correct). I'm -1,0 on my 09. I got a better drive on him because I was on the throttle faster, but he really start to out muscle me in 5th and 6th.

Brakes on that bike are pretty good too since he braked much sooner and harder than I do for T1 :D

I want one :( Suspension can be fixed/upgraded, but the bike is definitely faster.

I run past every 13' I've ever been side by side against. I have even passed some going onto the straight and they had the jump on me.

As far as 'power adding' mods, I only have full exhaust and a dyno tune (and a K&N if you count that).

HowEVER... if I ever have to rebuild my motor, I am absolutely getting a 13+ crank and connecting rods :devil Call it a sleeper

My mechanic buddy dynoed a friend's 2011 with a full exhaust and tune and it put out 119 horses at the wheel. I can see you pullin' on a 636.
