Santa Clara, California

Selling my 2006 ZX-6R, since I replaced it with a 2023 ZX-6R. I bought it about a year ago, it's a craigslist rescue.
Things I've done:
  • New tires
  • Replaced all bodywork bolts with new stainless ones, new rubber well nuts
  • Bi-xenon headlight kit from KT Moto (I still have the OEMs)
  • New radiator and oil cooler. Previous ones were clogged
  • New rear brake pads, all brake fluid replaced
  • Steering stem bearings replaced
  • Blue rim tape
  • Trickle charger

Things the bike had when I bought it:
  • Aftermarket plastics
  • Full titanium exhaust
  • Fender eliminator + integrated turn signals
  • Adjustable brake and clutch levers
  • The exhaust is wider than factory and required the removal of the passenger foot pegs (done by the previous owner). I do have them, but they don't really fit on the bike anymore with that exhaust in the way. I also have the passenger seat available (where currently the blue cowling piece is).

Always starts right up, fast and fun. Exhaust is nice and loud, sounds great. Clean title in hand. Cash or cashier's check only

I didn't ask them, I generally always sell my vehicles private party since California does not give you trade-in credit when calculating sales tax :(

if you get the right kid in the spring I’d expect you’ll get most of what you’re asking. The ‘oooh shiny’ effect should work for you….
Yea, I'm not expecting miracles here. I bought it for $6k last year when there was no supply and prices were all way high.

Regarding trade-in: since California wouldn't subtract the trade in from what I paid for my 2023 to help reduce sales tax on it, it makes more sense for me to sell it myself, since I will get more that way (dealer will want to make money on it). Also the dealer told me that they don't really like selling bikes that old since they have a hard time offering financing on it (their underwriters won't approve).

We always do. But I honestly don’t know what the legal requirements are. But the old man was alwasy good at helping whatever way we possibly could and stay out of jail for guys on taxes. Lol.
But if it’s a 10k bike. We give ya 5k trade in. You only pay the sells tax on the 5k. We always do the tags for guys tho. And I have heard if they do the tags and take the bill if sale that shows the 5k trade in they still have to pay taxes on the original purchase amount. So idk if we cover the other half on the trade ins or not. I will ask the old man how that’s works out.
It's a per-state thing. Most states indeed let you reduce sales tax this way, but not in CA :(. Unsurprisingly, CA gets you everywhere they can.
