OEM Fairings vs Kawasaki Fairings?

Hi Everyone, I need to put new fairings on my bike and would like to hear from anyone else who has recently done the same.

Original Kawasaki fairings from my dealer (Australia) start from AUD$160 (for smaller panels) all the way up to AUD$500 (for larger panels). The 4 panels that I need add up to more than AUD$1000 from Kawasaki.

But I can get a complete fairing kit from an OEM fairing dealer based in Australia for a little over $600 delivered (ABS injection moulded stuff from China).

Anyone had any experience ordering OEM fairing kits? Is there anything I should be wary of going down this path? Eg/ Poor fit, build quality, decals etc...

Thank you!
Craig

Poor fit, color won't match OEM, brittle. Who knows, some people claim their quality has improved but I'm not willing to go that route again. Have you tried finding used fairings and have them painted? You could always fork out the cash to an OEM reseller like partzilla and save a little on factory bits.

If they're from China they're not OEM, at least I hope not.

Thanks for your replies Gents. Decided to steer clear of fairings from China. I'll do the smart thing and stick with original parts from Kawasaki. Cheers, Craig

Chinese don't fit quite right, the material is not the same, like its more brittle. I'd rather have slightly scratched factory fairings rather than perfectly new Chinese fairings.

Ummm, I think your guy's opinions are outdated.... I bought an aftermarket injection moulded kit awhile ago unpainted, great fit and durability. My own paint job just wasn't the greatest. I've actually bought another ABS injection moulded set from another oversea manufacturer and should have them here next Friday, and I expect the quality to be very well done. I'll post up some pics too, since I had these ones custom made for my 04.

Good to hear from you TheSloMoShow. I'm really keen to hear how you go with the ABS injection moulded set you've just ordered! Thanks in advance for sharing

Yep, I'll post up some pictures when they arrive next week. I'll have some in my build thread too. From the reviews I've seen within the last year or two, I feel oversea ABS injection molded manufacturers have really increased the competition. Of course they'll never be on par with OEM, but I think what I'm able to post next week should show you that it may be worth your money.

If there's one place I'd tell you NOT to order from it would be DHGate (just trust me on this one). Auctmart or another reputable manufacturer and read all of the reviews.

From what I've heard, top 3 for our bikes are Nicecycle, Ninjafairing.com & Auctmarts in no particular order.

To give you a cliffnotes version of what I understand about those 3 sites see below.

Nicecycle: Most expensive of the 3, but best quality fitting and hardness of plastics. YOU CAN BUY INDIVIDUAL FAIRING PIECES. Very very similar to OEM. Good customer service, but really no options for customization unless you are cool with factory colors or flames. There is an option to buy a matching color seat cowl, but it costs extra. Black windscreen, heat shield and fairing bolt kit included.

Auctmarts: Best price and highest amount of customization. I sent them a photoshopped pic of how I wanted my fairings done (decal placement, colors etc) based off one of their own kits. Each purchased kit comes with heat shield to place under certain hot spots of the fairings, a fairing bolt kit and windscreen (although the windscreen is prob low quality).

Ninjafairing: A little bit more expensive than Auctmarts but same quality. Different options than Auctmarts for fairing kit design but not as wide of an array.

Auctmarts and Ninjafairing.com plastic quality is nearly on par with NiceCycle. Only issue I've truly heard of is that in some spots your bolt holes are covered in paint, so you may have to drill through these before placing them on but not much of a hassle really.

Of all the 3 I think Nicecycle still charges for shipping even though they're the most expensive.
