I don't think I have ever seen a bike painted in horizontal stripes, of equal size. I'd be really curious to see what that looks like. If the stripes were 2" or 3" wide, I suspect it would be a fairly impressive visual statement. Complicated to do, with all the compound curves on the fairings, and all the separate components that would have to go into getting it right....
Most patterns seem to employ big blocks of color, in wedge shapes tapering to the rear of the bike. I'd be willing to bet that's a whole heck of a lot easier to end up with something that looks coordinated.
Horizontal lines would also look a bit odd, if they weren't aligned with the horizon all the time; and they would not be whenever the suspension loading changes.
Closest I've seen on a commercial bike, was the louvered look of the Suzuki RF bikes in the mid 80's.
