I found this 05 636 posted 20 hours ago and he says he does regular maintenence. He said he changed the fairings because he didnt think the other ones would sell very well because they were ugly. Hes gone through the list of all the maintence hes done. it has 19K miles on it and a clean title in his name. Should i pull the trigger on this bike if the inspection and test ride go well? We live about 5 hours apart and he said that he would do 3,000 for it from 3500.

Do you have more information or more pictures than in the ad???- like of the bodywork he took off? or any receipts/service records???

he does not mention valve adjustment service or if it has any type of power commander etc to go with the slip on exhaust, if the air filter is oe or aftermarket

he doesn't mention anything about flushing the brakes or replacing pads or rebuilding the master cylinder (common weak link is this master)

and he says he "tightened the chain" but at 19k it is about the end of its life cycle, and you should be aware you will need new chain and sprockets if not now in the very near future

You can clearly see the bike has been down atleast once (stator cover is rashed)

and all that chinese crap put on the bike isn't adding any value whatsoever IMO

It may not be the worst deal out there, but it is far from the best either........

We went back and forth for hours yesterday and he told me a lot about this. He sent me about 30 videos of the work that hes done on it and that all the electronics work. He just put new brake pads and tires on there. about the fairings, he said that the old set was put on there terribly he said there was tons of zip ties attached and there were a few scratches on that stator side. Is 19K really a lot for this bike even if this bike was cared for?
also, heres a start up video that he sent. is this "griding sound" at the very beginning normal? https://imgur.com/gallery/dlvNbpX

we talked for hours yesterday and he sent me about 30 videos of a walkaround of everything working. He said the previous fairings were ugly they were a white camo and they did a really shitty job of putting them on, said there were lots of zip ties and a few scratches to them. Ill attach a couple things one the start up which im not sure if its normal for the bike to make this sound when starting up, and two, a picture of the old fairings and he showed me a video of the old fairings which he said he will give away with the bike.
Here is a start up. https://imgur.com/gallery/dlvNbpX

I can't hear any grinding noise in the video.....

I think we have different idea of cared for...........

And typically one only replacing the oe plastics if going racing to race bodywork or if they crashed it and buy something aftermarket, or used, or.......................................... and if the old plastics were all zip ties and the stator cover rashed, it has been crashed before and maybe significantly so...??

I am not there to see it in person, but I would beat him down on price (chain/sprockets soon (lets just say $175 if you can install yourself)and most likely a master rebuild or replace (another $25 if you can do it yourself)- would be two key areas, but I would also bring up the mention of valve adjustment service that was due 3,000 miles ago and that is about $500 for that service etc.... ) before I would consider it a good deal- but totally your call on what you want to do and how well you can do it.....
But I can easily see you spending close to $1000 catching up on defferred maintenance in very short order.......

If you go look at it, bring a voltmeter and test the charging system yourself, and ride it and make sure no transmission or running issues or slipping clutch. Pay attention to ho the suspension feels and look for oil leaks
A whole list of shit to look over closely and scrutinize and brow beat the seller down on anything and everything

Worst that happens is you keep looking if he says no, worst that happens if he says yes is - you bought yourself a pile of shit- so do your due dilligence in shopping it....... nobody wants to end up with a pile o shit that steals there lunch money and aggrevates them

Offer dude 2/3 what he is asking.--I see RED flags... maybe...I don't blame him for painting that white and camo paint. couple of things to concider...Why/when did whomever replace the original OEM fairing with the cheeeeeap chinese knock-off? 1-it went down and killed all the plastics 2-maybe it was borrowed from somebody without thier knowledge. RUN the VIN before you buy it.
