Leo Vince Link Pipe Fitment Issue

Hey guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Just got an Akrapovic slip on and a leo vince link pipe (cat delete) for my 2014 zx6r but I'm having an odd issue where the link pipe opening is smaller than I think it should be. The Akra slips right over the pipe instead of inside it.

Did anyone else with the same link pipe have to modify the opening to make it wider or anything? Or did I just get the wrong/defective pipe?

Unfortunately it sounds like that link pipe simply isnít made to fit that slip on...if I were you Iíd return that link pipe while you still can (assuming you havenít mounted it yet) and get one specifically to fit an Akrapovic slip on.

I have a PineBox link pipe and a Leo Vince slip on and those two work very well together, there are other options you can explore,

If you get an Akrapovic slip on, why would you choose any other link pipe over Akrapovic?

I wish I could could get the pinebox but I can't find it anywhere online. Looks like the pinebox website is down. Also, the leo vince mp is designed to work with the stock can so in theory it should work. I guess I will have to return it and switch to Akra. Thanks!

Only because the leo vince has mounting brackets for the heat shield and I've got a tekarbon CF heat shield that I was hoping to mount.

Hi, this is strange. I had this exact same issue. I bought an Akrapovic can and a Leo Vince link pipe as it has the mounting points for the carbon heat shield I also bought...personally think the bike really looks bare somehow without the heatshield.

Anyway I found the exact same issue as you, if the Akrapovic can doesn't fit the the stock one won't either as it's the same size pipe on both. It's like Leo Vince have made an error somewhere.

My solution was to buy a used collector box on eBay for £20 (any ZX6R box will do from 2009 onwards), cut off the standard outlet and weld it to the Leo Vince link pipe.

They now join like the standard set up, also fitted a new genuine exhaust seal.

Sorry for delay in reply..only just noticed this thread. Let us know what you decide to do.

......As a side note this link pipe is NOT a cat delete as the cats are in the headers.....

Thanks for the reply. I actually ended up returning the mid pipe and planning to try out the MJS performance link pipe since they offer a wider opening for akrapovic cans. They also come with the mounting brackets for the heat shield as well.
