Which ones?

Hey guys I read all your threads but still want some direct answers if you will. I’m running the stock battle axe tires and don’t trust them anymore I need new tires and will be ordering them tommrow what do you recommend. Any thoughts on the pilot road 5? I ride normal on the streets but like a crazy lunatic on the highway I want something that grips well but also lasts more then like 2800 miles. Thanks!

Avon Storm 3D XM have been working well for me. Easily 12K miles per set.

I wouldn't hesitate to run rat Road 5s. I had Road 4s on my CBR600RR without any problems - over 12,000 miles on the rear. Sold the bike with 14,000 miles on the front and still a descent amount of tread left. On the 2014 ZX6R ran S20s as they were OEM. Replaced rear at 4,500 miles with an S21. No problems and rode thru a lot of rain with it. I ride street and will corner pretty hard but not at the limit - I've approached the limit a time or two when I made a mistake or something happened - that's why I don't ride at the limit so I'll have something left for the unexpected. Ive not run Road 5s yet but will next time I buy a tire.

IMO if you don't do track days the Road 5s are a good street tire particularly if you ride in the rain. In Alabama this winter if you haven't ridden in the rain you haven't been riding!

When I had my J1 model, I ran shinko's and rode just like the OP too.
I think any other tire would be overkill for what he's doing

Road 5ís will still do fine at trackdays for most riders tbh. Sport touring tires have a lot of grip especially high end ones

Michelin Pilot Power 2CT Tires. Oldies, but goldies! Damn good price point also. Or why not another set of the Battlax Tires? My friend has been running the S22's and they seem to be holding up alot better than the S21's.

Agreed. Love some 2CT’s and love the price too.

Can’t wait to see where this thread end up.
