Average Fuel Range Before and After a Tune

Greetings, so of course I'm still getting used to the bike. Just hit 600 miles and will have the service completed soon as I can drop off bike weather permitting.

What is your average fuel range? Did getting your bike tuned decrease fuel mileage since maybe the AFR and other settings are adjusted for more power?

I currently get about 125-130miles before the light comes on and then I get paranoid and look for a gas station. I totally understand supersports are not designed for fuel mileage but just asking since I one day consider getting the bike dyno tuned.

Cheers.

Just got to be free

Dyno tuning in general is purely about making the engine more efficient by adjusting the Air-fuel ratio. Getting it tuned even if adding more fuel in to the mixture will just mean that you need to use less throttle to do what it did before, so saving fuel, because it is more efficient.

When I first got my ‘17 KRT Edition I also noticed the light coming on around 120-130 miles during break-in, that’s because if you’re constantly varying the rpms you will use more fuel. After 1000 miles I focused on mpgs and was able to get 160-180 miles before the light came on, and that’s w/ WNY hills/valleys/city-highway/having some fun mixed.

I avg 32-48mpgs ranging between fun time (Full Power/no KTRC) and cruising (Low Power/KTRC 1 which is basically off).

What do your rides generally consist of speed/duration/traffic/average ride time? Also a snappy wrist/having fun will lower range. 200miles/tank is possible but not everywhere

I got around the same before my bike got pro tuned, I got better mileage after my tune though! You also have to factor in the type of riding you are doing. After tune I am getting roughly the same amount of mileage when I am riding in traffic of heavy on and off acceleration. But if I am cruising to my inlaws on the highway I am now getting between 180-190 miles on a tank....much better than before tune.
Overall the bike just runs better now
