Akrapovic link pipe

Hi all, I have a 2012 zx6r performance edition which came with the akra slip on. I've just been looking online and found the akra link pipe for 200. Is it just just a case of bolting this on I will I need a remap and or new headers ect. Cheers for the help

The catalytic converter is built into the header, rather than the box the link pipe replaces. That means the back pressure is controlled by the header..... You can remove the box without having to remap the fi.

It would run stronger with a re map. If you go the next step and remove the cats, the remap is a very good idea.

Thanks for the reply. Is it really worth forking the 200 out for it then? I'm looking for it to be a bit louder. I'm not too bothered about performance as I'd just buy a zx10. It would be nice as a added bonus though.

Losing more than 10 lbs is similar to gaining a couple of hp. I would expect the exhaust to be quite a bit louder, as well. You would probably hear more of the sharper, higher pitched content.

I've also been looking at other pipes from ixil and arrow that are half the price of the akra and from what I can see steel is steel. What do you think as to going for the cheaper option. Is it worth it?

We have a long term member who swears by ixil. Based on his recommendation, I wouldn't hesitate.

You can find the Akra link pipe for $190 on solomotoparts, I've got the same one on mine, worth every penny.

I'm located in the UK so I'm not sure how much that would cost with import duty but I bet it's a few quid.

The Ixil is a quality part for much less money.... I think it does not have the welded on brackets to support the covers the OEM box uses. that could be changed by a shop if you feel the need, and that would still cost less than the Akropovic.

I bought my Akra link pipe for the 2016 from sportsbikeshop.co.uk for about 150 delivered. It sounds deeper, throatier and louder. Definitely worth it for me. And if you feel the weight difference its huge. Love mine.
