Looking to get into track

i found my passion in riding and nothing makes me happier than being on my bike and knee dragging and going fast. how to get into a track school, how to get my bike and gear ready, how to start? next season i will attack my passion more than ever. wanted your input guys, my ultimate goal is to race and get sponsered. there’s no better feeling than to get paid for doing something you love.

Roadracingworld magazine publishes a “How to” track edition each year.... you should definitely take a look at one.

Unless you’re currently 12 years old with stunted growth and rich parents you’re probably not ever going to get paid for racing. Have you been to a track day yet? That’s a good place to start. I’m in NJ and can tell you the season here is over. Next year get with N2 or EvolveGT for some track riding training/experience. California Superbike School, Yamaha Champions Racing School and Penguin Race school all come to NJMP during the season.

Paging Doctor @Gawernator , you’re needed in the OR stat!

Hey. He won’t get “paid”, but he could get some sponsors for discounted products or racing supplies at cost; you never know. I remember my amateur racing days back in 2003 and I wasn’t very good but still got discounts from sponsors (Dunlop, Motul, etc.)

Yeah discounts on parts is realistically about as good as you can hope for. If you're over 20 years old and haven't ridden a bike at a race track yet, you've missed the boat by a long shot for making a living out of it.

Even a lot of the professional racers at national levels pay out of their own pocket (or their parents pay if they're kids). It's really only the really really good guys that can actually get paid for it.

What he said. Depends on your natural talent and how young you start. You’re not gonna get paid plus you’re American sorry bro. Everyone getting paid started at 5 years old . My teammate and my other friend started at 8, has gotten top ten MotoAmerica finishes and they pay out of pocket. I’ve been riding for 3.5 years and racing for two, I get discounts on stuff and sometimes free stuff or free labor/help. Nobody is paying me. I only have two sponsors that give me free stuff regularly. I’ll probably never get better than a mid pack MotoAmerica racer and I started at 21ish.

But be positive, just do what you can afford. I’ve taken on some debt to do this for sure. Make friends in the area that ride and do trackdays and go from there.

In all serious you should watching the film Hitting the Apex(Available on AmazonPrime!)

It shows how these God’s (Simoncelli, Marquez, Rossi) cane to be. The first scenes show their very early childhood(3-4yo) dragging knees around a cart Circuit. They’ve devoted their entire lives to this sport and it’s the only movement their muscles know aside from walking.

Also, they’re europeon with lots of tracks and weigh 140lbs and are like 4’0.

Prob closer to 150 which is light but not insane. Americans are just fat let’s be honest. I’m 5’10” and even with good muscle tone like 160 lbs with very low body fat
