HELP ! ! ! Charging system problems

I have a 2001 ZX-6R with an ongoing problem with the charging system.

July 2008. At first I thought it was the battery, replaced the battery. It turned out to be the stator was blown. I replaced the stator(aftermarket). The bike seemed to work fine, for a week. It cut out while driving down 407 doing 120kph. Total loss of electrical power. Checked charging sytem and stator was blown again, two of the three phases were burnt like the original one was. Also found that the Rectifier/Regulator wasn't working, which probably blew the stator. Installed a new aftermarket stator and a used rectifier/regulator. Bike work fine for rest of year, and even at 2009 Bike Week in Daytona.

June 2009 the rectifier/regulator blew and took the stator with it. Replaced the stator again and replaced the rect./reg. with one from RM Stator in Quebec. Sept.13th bike wouldn't start after running for a hour ride. Battery was dead. Not holding a charge. Bought another battery, a GEL cell. Rechecked ther charging system and system not charging. Head light works, so I know the rect./reg. is working. Tested system and it looks like the stator is gone, again.

Anyone have a similar situation, or a solution?

I hate electrical.
I wish I could help ya out.
Im not too sure Id keep throwing cash at it until I got it checked out for sure.

Hopefully some one with more electrical know how will chime in.


Remember...
street lights timed for 35 mph
are also timed for 70 mph.

When installing your new/used stators did you check the gap between the stator n the coils? also make sure there isnt any bare wires in the charging system. Also see if the coils in the stator housing are good. Testing the stator is quite easy actually, all you need is a volt/ohm meter. i could describe how to do it on here if youd like.

Thanks KYD for the information you provided. When you say the gap between the Stator and coils, do you mean the stator and the Alternator magnetwhich surrounds the stator? The coils are attached to the stator. Sorry, am I misunderstanding you? Note: I've already installed four stators already, so I'd find it strange that all four could have been bad. You also also mentioned bare wires. Where would you suggest I look. I've checked the cables and wires from the Rectifier/regulator and the Stator.

2004 Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 Electrical issue.

Hey guys,
I kind of have the same situation where I think my regulator/rectifier is gone. So I own a 04 636, I went riding two weeks ago since last summer. The bike ran fine, did a 150 mile ride came home put the bike in the garage. Well yesterday I took it out to take it for a spin and it had a hard time starting, it cranked over twice and that was it. Now i'm shocked because my battery is drained. I changed my battery last summer and I don't think it is bad because I put a battery tender on it all throughout winter. So today I charged my battery, I put it back in, I turned the key to Auxiliary and the cluster lights came on for two second and went dead. When I try to hit the start ignition button, I hear a tick from the rectifier and from a rely by the battery.. Any advice? I really don't think its the stator but who knows. I will check my battery again to make sure it is working properly.
