Yup, riding way too fast. As motorcyclists, we tend to always say "look for motorcyclists" but we often make it hard for them when we don't look out for them. Riding too fast is almost always a recipe for disaster. As bboy mentioned, when riding at those speeds, you see less and have even less time to react. He's lucky the car pulled out slowly because it it crept up a bit further, that guy was going to get a decent amount of air time and a lesson in gymnastics.
While it is everyone's responsibility to drive/ride safely and watch for everyone, I always say, and will stick by it, that we are the ones riding in the smaller, less safe mode of transportation so we must bear more responsibility. We know all it takes it one hit and we could be done so we better do our best to avoid that one hit.
