Are you tired of having a Great Bike (ZX6R), but not really having the skills to properly ride it?
Get into situations that caused you to be fearful and do the opposite thing that you wanted to do?
Have you done a track day, but the CRs just showed you "the Line", said to "be Smooth" and said "Good Luck"?

Do you want to know what the heck you are doing?

I HIGHLY recommend the California Superbike School. My son and I attended the school last summer (Level I). It was an great experience. the coaches were very attentive and worked at your level, teaching you to think for yourself (using the tools you are taught) on how to negotiate the track.
You are taught step by step, one skill added upon another. By the end of the day, you be elated at the new skill set you've developed.

After the CSS, I went to three track days, and was shocked how many riders don't understand the basic technology and science of how to ride. Of course I was in the beginner group and it was usually a colder track, but at VIR, it seemed that 2-3 riders went down every session (some riders wouldn't even know why they went down).

Anyway, I'm signing up for the level II this spring, not exactly sure which date quite yet, but it will be at either VIR or NJMP, depending on my son's ROTC LDAC obligations. If any of my ZX6R bros want to go along, we could coordinate a group trip or something.

Often I hear how expensive the course is, but think about how many people get new exhausts, power commanders, etc. , but get no training on how to actually ride the bike as it was meant to be ridden. For the price of two trackdays, you'll get training that will improve your riding for the rest of your riding career. Worried about having to cancel?(I am) you can cancel up to 14 days before the class and get a full refund.

If your bike is not ready to ride at the track, you can rent a BMW S1000RR(!!) for an extra $200 (I did this last summer). It's ergonomics are virtually identical to my 2013 ZX6R 636, in addition to being powerful, it is very stable, and very confidence inspiring (read Awesome!).

A $200 deposit holds your spot, $275 one month before your class (breaks up the cost)
Here are the dates I am considering (these classes fill up fast, don't ask me how I know):

May 12 Virginia International Raceway (North) All Levels 475/675
May 13 Virginia International Raceway (North) All Levels 475/675
May 19 New Jersey Motorsports Park (Thunderbolt) All Levels 475/675
May 20 New Jersey Motorsports Park (Thunderbolt) All Levels 475/675
May 23 New Jersey Motorsports Park (Thunderbolt) All Levels 475/675

I'm sure there are other good schools to go to, but I can attest that I was very happy with the quality of this school, so much so that I'm going back.

I'm sure others on this forum have attended, and can give their two cents as well...

p.s. I'm not associated with CSS, just a satisfied customer.

Agreed, there are quite a few of us who have gone through CSS and had a lot of positive things to say about our experiences. I also highly recommend it to folks who want to take track riding more seriously. Hell, even if you just ride on the street. You'll definitely see improvements damn near immediately.

I Sooooooo badly want to finish levels 3 and 4.
School was well worth the small fortune. Still recouping don't tempt me.

Horrible picture of me by the way.

Did levels I and II again at VIR this past May, planning to attend again this upcoming May for levels III & IV. But I also have some thoughts of going to Barber 2 weeks later instead to do those, about 200 miles closer to home and a better track, although VIR north was plenty of fun.

CSS is by far the best school to attend and you don't need special prep on your bike to attend, you can ride up on your street bike and as long as your not leaking oil and the tires are atleast 50% there you likley will get through tech. It is very well run and is made for your convenience.
$475 for a day filled with learning and fun is a low price to pay for what you'll leave with !

Just Got Back

Well, another great day attending California Superbike School, level 2.

Really good info on body position, reference points, and vision skills.

I was fortunate to have AMA racer Gerry Signorelli as my coach.

The ZX6R faired very well on the track even with the BMW S1000RRs.

I really don't know how people learn this stuff on their own. With the training I've received, feel much more comfortable and in control. For the price of two trackdays it's worth every penny!, even more so for newer and intermediate riders.

See you for level 3!
