As I am left hand dominant, I expect that I have reversed which side the axles are inserted for both wheels….

What side is the rear axle nut on, OEM?

Pretty sure the front axle can only be inserted from the left as you sit on the bike.

That makes sense to me. The added advantage of that orientation is that tightening the axle nut works against the side stand, and keeps it away from the hot exhaust.

I'm pretty sure it is that way by design. On my Tracer GT which has a center stand the manual says to put it on the side stand to tighten the axel. I've always done mine on the center stand but am careful how I'm pulling on the torque wrench handle when tightening - always vertically.
