This season I plan to do the tuneup on my own, the major repairs, if needed, and I hope I won't, I'll leave those for the pros.

To get started I need a good, well equipped, toolbox. Nothing worse then starting a project to find a tool missing on a Saturday night.

So what is in your standard toolbox? What would be your most important tool?

Aside from the tool I was born with, The tool I reach for the most is my T handle with sockets.
The sockets I use the most are the 8mm, the 10mm the 12mm the 14 mm & the 17mm.

Get a set of metric sockets, a set of metric end wrenches, a set of metric Allen wrenches, one or more torque wrenches (you will need foot pounds and inch pounds), a large socket of the correct size for your rear axle nut, a front axle socket/tool, a chain breaker/riveting tool, a set of feeler gauges for valve clearance measurement. Those are the main tools you will need for basic maintenance and some of the major maintenance.

A 6 foot breaker bar is a great tool too for getting that damn front sprocket nut off!

most important tool is an extendable magnet.....lol
I have one of those and the grabber one for the aluminum bolts which I actually used yesterday. Doesn't help when they just vanish though, never to be found again :O
