What size is this nut and I plastic coated the lower fairings.

So today I took my fairings off to do my monthly deep inspection (mainly cause my baby didnt feel right)and found that I lost the lower bolt to the rear shock just above the dog bone link. It was almost all the way out. The only thing that kept it in was that the exhaust pipe stopped it from going any further out. Thank god or this thread could of been different. I am going to replace it with a locking nylon nut with loc tite.
This is why you should always inspect your bike.

Exactly!

I'm not sure on the nut size.... but I'd guess it's a 10mm thread... not sure of the thread itself though whether it's a fine thread or not. :O

If you're unsure of the thread pitch go to any good tool store and get a thread gauge Bud. They are worth their weight in gold . . . . . or Pro Bolt sell a cracking thread gauge and it's not pricey either :thumbup

HAHA, I hear you. Well...you could always tempt it and ride the bike to the hardware store :devious I'm not liable if something goes wrong!...but it's what I would do lol.

Lemme know how that plasti dip holds up on the fairings. I did my rear rim with it and so far so good. The plastics/tank get more contact though...so yeah. What's cool is you can paint over the plasti dip, and use it basically as a primer.

Well since it is to late to hit up the hardware store for this bolt I decided to continue to fix another problem. Due to my rear master cylinder taking a crap on me over two months ago my lower fairings paint was shot. So I sanded them down and alcohol wiped them down and plasti coated them. And I got to say it actually came out alot better then I expected. Here is some pics...

They are drying. But I am very impressed. Hope it last. If not I am going on the hunt for them in carbon fiber.

I'm not sure of the size of your nut, but my nuts are so big that I had to lower water level in my toilet bowl.
