Bit late, but there's a lot of bikes around Germany. Seems like most of the American riders either have sports bikes or Harley's. A lot of Germans ride as well, I see a lot of sport touring bikes and nakeds with a few Harley's thrown in. Get some warm gear, the weather goes from comfortable to cool and sunny to shite quite often. I ride as long as there's little chance of snow. Be careful on the autobahn. A lot of areas don't have speed limits and there will always be something faster behind you. Yes, you can max out the speed but that's still scary on public roads. If you have to take your bike to a shop, ask if they take vat forms especially if the work might get pricey. Have fun over here, get your passport, get away from base. There's way too much to do around Europe to just sit at home watching football every weekend.
