Valve timing

So I just checked the valves on my new to me 2009 zx6 track bike, all the exhausts bar one were tight. Put it back together had issues with the cam chain jumping as I tightened up the cam supports missed timed the engine felt it during checking the timing by hand. Retimed the engine using a cable tie to hold the cam chain

turned over by hand all good. Started it sounded like a box of marbles. Pulled apart again timing looks ok, checked all clearances in each cylinder individually all ok. Popped off the cams again checked to make sure a collet was not out of place, put a straight edge along the buckets all even. So back to timing again. The pics are what i have. Tdc as per the mark, exhaust cam level with the head but the inlet at 27 pins is up a bit, the cams in this position as per the manual time off no4 tdc compression bit unusual i thought. Used to dirt bikes of late and they line up perfectly. Manually engaged the tensioner. Any suggestions? Anyone bent a valve mistiming an engine while they tightened the cam caps down?

Aren't you suppose to be on the 28th pin?????????

been awhile since I have seen an 09-12...but I see tons and tons of 03-06 models especially 05/06 and they are 28 pins

but looking at you pic you are clearly a full tooth off on the inlet came timing, advanced...........uggg
and when the cam sprockets allow access like yours do............... ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS !!! zip tie the chain to the sprocket and sharpy mark the chain and sprocket before you pull the cam chain tensioner......it makes everything so much easier!!!!!!!!

Thats what i thought but the manual shows 27 pins and its on pin 27. 28 looks better to me. Yes should have marked it uuggh

Just found out where I went wrong the exhaust valve pic in the manual shows the exhaust mark on the lower pin and the odd one i.e one pin is on the intake. Mine is the opposite which is fine just means the inlet is one up to many. Amazing how a little prod makes you think a bit cheers. Now lets hope it was tapping a little carbon eeeekkkkk. Should have followed my gut.... Will report back tomorrow....
Update you can call me "Neo" I can dodge bullets..... All ok running well. One tooth out on the inlet is survivable. Pretty pissed with myself to be honest.

Probably taking the time to turn it over by hand is what saved you. that’s why it’s important to do that.

It’s this drawing that screws people up. That ex cam gear is clearly not seated in that chain
What messed me up was counting 2pins on the exhaust same as the diagram, for me it was the inlet on two pins.
