Two Brothers P1x Silencer Review *Long Story/Review*

Well, some of you have seen a few of my threads and comments since I've joined this community just over a month ago. I made mention of the possibility of getting rid of my Two Brothers Black Series C/F Slip On :clap "get rid of that ugly, no good two brothers" says the anti 2 Bros peeps :clap because of how loud it was. At idle, the slip on's noise level measured in at about 95dBs and at 5k, 103dBs. I decided to use my friend, I think you all have heard of him, named Google and he advised me to take a hard look at the P1 or P1x baffle/silencer.

While some dislike the Two Brothers look and sound :coocoo, I love the way it looks but don't care for the loud noise so much because of two things; I live in a subdivision full of older adults and young families and secondly, one trip to the gas station told me that if I get to 8K, I need ear plugs. God forbid how loud it would be at 10K+. Again, my friend Google said to try the P1 or P1x. The P1 is a stage 1 silencer, supposedly suppresses the noise level by 3-4 dBs and the P1x is a stage 2 type silencer, supposedly suppresses the noise level by 7-8 dBs. 99% of the reviews Google gave me stated that if you get a P1, you might as well spend that $30 to wipe your ass. I don't like using tiny, rough pieces of paper so instead of wiping my ass with the $30, I decided to check out the reviews for the P1x.

Google was fairly split on the P1x. I would say about 50% of the people who have purchased it recommended it saying it helped out ALOT, roughly 25% saying it made a slightly noticeable difference, and the other 25% said it made no difference and that, yes, to use that $35 to wipe my ass with it. Talked to my wife and she said "stupid, if you're gonna wipe your ass with $35, might as well buy it and then if you don't like it, give it to the nice people at ZX6R.com" so I followed the advice of my better half.

It came in three days ago, I installed it two days ago and took it for a 40 min ride today. Gassed up, went about 16 miles total (no I was not riding too slow but I live in WI where snow is melting, salt and sand is galore) around streets I was familiar with. Arrived home with a smile on my face as that was the first ride of over 5 mins since I got it 7 days ago.

Yes, yes, you guys are waiting for the review, right? Wait, all this stuff above wasn't a review? My bad. I'll get to the point now :devious

The P1x was DEFINITELY WORTH IT and I give it :thumbup :thumbup. The ride was much more tolerable and with the clutch pulled in, I was almost ninja-like. Once I got back, I decided to test the actual noise level to see if it the P1x actually helped or if it was all in my head like Derulo. The results. The P1x at idle measured in at 88dBs and at 5k, 95rpms. The sound isn't as nice, sounds like it's getting choked by Royce Gracie, quite baffled but still more distinct than stock. GET IT if your 2 Brothers is too loud

CLIFF NOTES
- 2 Brothers is gorgeous (my review, my opinion, you know the deal :nana:)
- 2 Brothers is a bit too loud, annoyingly loud
- Listen to the wife, happy wife means I get a bike (yea, I'm a poet too)
- Installed the P1x silencer and it was music to my ears

2 Brothers without any silencer
- Idles at 95dBs, 5k at 103dB

2 Brothers with the P1x Silencer
- Idles at 87dBs, 5k at 95dBs

If you think your 2 Brothers is too loud BUY THE P1X.

Updated with videos for comparison. Sorry, they were shot with low lighting last evening after my ride. Listen to my voice and how loud or drained out it is by the exhaust sound to tell the difference. Again, sorry for the crappy quality.

First, with the P1x Powertip silencer

Good write up mate!

I have been seriously contemplating this for my bike as once I get into the higher RPMs the exhaust is way to loud for me. Only problem is I have two of them (Dual exhaust) so thats $60 to potentially wipe my ass :laugh

Glad to see it helped though and thanks for taking the time to write this up...definitely something I am going for no on my 05'
Exactly what I was looking for... I've been thinking of getting the P1X as well considering how annoying the exhaust on my 2012 is. GLAD to hear it is much more tolerable... time to order that puppy!

Post up a picture, if you will... not sure if the gold insert is going to be too ostentatious yet. Thanks for the review!

Bought the black, paid a few more dollars for it but didn't think the gold would look good. Will post pics tomorrow
Nice review, a few laughs too. I will look into buying this and if you could do a picture of the baffle in your exhaust, that would be great.

That's cool man... I still have my bike sitting in my garage with an untested P1x installed. (still waiting on a fairing piece to arrive).

I saw the same mixed reviews and am glad to hear it was worth the money. Now I can cringe less at 3am when I'm coming through my neighborhood, worrying about being "that guy" to my neighbors, whom most of which, I try to respect their quiet time.

Yes, it's just part of being a courteous neighbor. Like I said, I tested the actual dB levels, there's a legit difference. At 5K RPM, it's only as loud as the bike at idle on a 2 brothers without the P1x.
Does anyone have the p1x with carbon fiber end cap? I was wondering how it looks

As far as I know, they only come in silver, black, and gold

Two Brothers Racing, add an item to your shopping cart: M2/M5/M7/S1R P1X Race Pipe PowerTip (-7 to 8 dB) 005-P1-X
Finally... registered the bike and took her out for a spin this evening. And BOY, did it feel great!!!

Bonus: The girl hopped on for a ride, and she might eventually warm up to the idea of bikes in my life. Only complaint... too loud. Damn Two Brothers... need to put that P1X on there pronto!

Thanks for the videos!

This is what I'm talking about Two Brothers P1X Carbon Fiber End Cap - RevZilla I'm wondering how it looks
Ahh, my apologies, I didn't read the key word "end cap". Up to you. If you have the carbon fiber series canister already, my preference would be a black cap or silver cap just to give it a little more character instead of all carbon fiber but that's just me.

Yeah same here but the only end cap I could find is the carbon fiber. I ordered It and once i get it i might paint it. Either flat black or gloss I'm undecided that's why I would like to see some pictures

Up to you. Put it on and compare if you like the CF or the black as pictured above. I like how the black makes the CF stand out. Again, back to square one and that is preferences.
Just installed the P1X on by bike...much happier now. Thanks for the write up

I know this thread is old as hell but it pops up on google when you look up the P1X insert, so I thought I would share my experience as well. I bought a 2017 ZX6R and it came with a two bros carbon fiber S1R slip on that replaces the muffler and resonator. Of course it was loud as hell, so I swapped it back to the stock exhaust. Of course that didnt last long, so I found this P1X insert online that got mixed reviews. I ordered one off ebay for 32 bucks and threw it in today, and I couldnt be happier. My bike used to make my ears ring, echo down the street, set off car alarms, make people give me dirty looks, and make children run away in fear. Now, it still sounds very sporty and clean but the volume and harshness have been reduced in just the right way. It sounds how the bike should come from the factory, I dont even think police would look twice at it. All I can say is I can highly recommend this thing if you think your two bros is loud. I didnt think it was going to work and actually had someone lined up to buy my exhaust, but I am keeping it now :ROFLMAO:

Yea, had a Two Brothers on my first ZX6R, it was LOUD and like the original poster I live in a neighborhood with older folks and younger families. I went to work before 7AM and had to tiptoe out of the neighborhood. Bought the insert and it made a big difference. Wound up trading the bike for a new 2014 ZX6R a month later and left that one stock. Loved the sound at high RPM but way too many folks knew what I was doing. Looked at a few slip ons but never bought one. I would routinely ride 250 to 300 miles in a day and did a 600 mile day one time. Rode to work almost every day until I quit going to work - I was 63 and retired! Something I love about my Tracer 900 GT is its a triple and doesn't rev as high but makes a nice exhaust note and doesn't set alarms ringing when I running up thru the gears. It also doesn't have the ripping top end the ZX6R does but it does have curse control which is good for the I80 slog from Cheyenne to Grand Island Nebraska.
