Turn Signal Wiring

2460 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  diz330
Hey guys,

I've never been so good with wiring I was wondering if someone would be able to help. Last year when I first got my bike the turn signals worked fine. In one of the last couple rides I took her out of the season when I hit the signal left or right, all 6 signals went off (both sides) like a hazard light on a car they would blink.

So no bulbs are burnt out since they all flash so would anyone have any ideas what is going on? A bad contact in the switch or something? If you have had a similar situation please let me know.

Your bike has six turn signals?

Iirc there is a wiring diagram in the service manual, which can be found here.

sorry havent rode it since september, I was thinking there was 2 in the headlights as well. Like I said I have never been good with wiring and was wondering if anyone who may have had this same thing happen to chime in. Wiring diagram won't do me much good
You need to get a digital multimeter and start testing your wires. This is going to be the most effective way of troubleshooting your issue. First I'd go to the bulb wire and check for 12v and a good ground. If you're lacking a 12v, you could have a short or a bad connection, in which case its time to trace your wire back and look for pinches, broken wire, etc. Before you do anything, check your fuse.

I could go on all day on how to troubleshoot the issue, but again, check your fuse first and foremost. Now what caused it to blow will be up to you to find out, but that may remedy your issue.
Do u mean when you hit the switch boht side flash at the same time? Left ad right? Is your flasher relay, check the conection at the relay

yes you are right, both sides come on. I will try and find the relay and will try and check everything with the multi meter í guess. wish these things were easier to access
