Does anyone have a titanium axle/nut they want to part with? I have a 2008 ZX6r but it fits many years. The axle would be great but if not the nut will do. M24x1.5 Castle nut. You can text me at 303-332-3789

I’m curious about how much weight the axle plus nut would change from steel to titanium….

a quick search found this:

Titanium is highly valued in the metals industry for its high tensile strength, as well as its light weight, corrosion resistance, and ability to withstand extreme temperatures. It's as strong as steel but 45% lighter

That should get us in the ballpark…. For identical sized parts titanium would be 55% by weight to the steel.

I like simple comparisons, so just round that off at 50%.

saving grams wouldn’t be worth the cost. Saving pounds; it would be very slightly easier to justify if you could afford it.

titanium full exhaust is about the only area I would expect there to be a ‘real’ benefit.

I was sponsored by titanium advantage when I raced motocross. We could shed 10-12 pounds easy on race bikes. That’s huge when you’re only dealing with a couple hundred pounds. But. When it breaks. It breaks like glass. No bending or flexing

Loosing 10-15 lbs sounds great to me. So far about 1/2 of the nuts and bolts on my bike are Ti and I would like to complete it. The axle be an issue though. Little by little so the wife doesn't notice
