I’ll start by saying I’ve never tried it however the rear suspension linkage is different on the two bikes as is the exhaust placement, wheels and frame. I can’t see how it would be possible to bolt the newer swing arm on the older bike.

It does but it requires more than simply bolting on the swingarm. (one can make anything fit with enough welding and machining skills time and monies)
If I recall correctly you have to machine off several thousandths of width of the 05/06 swingarm as well to fit between the J frame. then you need the wheel, brakes, shock, linkages etc etc etc
