Bought this bike back in October and looked at it twice before I bought it. Thought it was in really good shape....WRONG. After getting it home and inspecting it closely I was sure the bike had been flipped. FML! So I decided to just rebuild it completely and make it as close to new as possible and hopefully have it ready by spring. On to the pics!

Stripped everything off it to start with...

Decided to drop the motor and get a new frame and swing arm for it. Figured while I was at it I'd have them and the tail powder coated a textured satin black along with the inside of the rotors. Also had the wheels and top triple powdered white since I want this to be a white 6R. Turned out pretty badass imo.

Onto the painting of parts. So far I've painted the calipers, sprockets, bottom of the forks, exhaust (along with wrapping the headers) and anything else that was previously gloss black. Used Duplicolor low gloss engine enamel. Stuff is sturdy as hell for paint and matches the powder coat perfectly minus the texture. Here is the exhaust for example...

This weekend hoping to get the motor back on the frame and start adding all the rest of the parts I've been buying since November. I'll update the thread as I go. Stay tuned!

I live 05/06 builds.....scratch that...I love all builds :yumyum:
sounds like my first track bike build.. bought a 600rr without a cluster or battery so it wouldn't start and got home and realized the motor had no compression..
Welcome to my world! Same thing happen to me! *cough cough* switch to 09 forks!

Guy I bought my from said my 06 was never laid down. A week later I asked him why a fairing was a little damaged and he said it was flipped at 60 mph. Mine is being stipped down as well, powder coated, and modded as well. I CAN'T wait to see yours finished!
Thanks guys. Sagara09 i actually got 07-08 forks...least they werent gold! No offense to anyone who likes the gold.

I dont like the gold either but the quality of the 09 forks are amazing.

I am working on the 07-08 tail for my 06. Its taking a long while though.
I'm digging the white wheels. Can't wait to see them on the bike.

Got my top triple back from a local decal shop. Turned out pretty nice I think.

Starting to see a motorcycle in there somewhere...

What aftermarket parts do you plan on using, if any?

Time for updates! Got alot done in the past week or so. Starting to look like something again! Lots of pictures this time!
Got the wheels, brakes and all the suspension bolted up finally. Also installed my t-rex racing axle block sliders which I had powdercoated to match the swing arm. Threw on my powdercoated grips too while I was at it.

Got my caltric sprockets torqued down and white chain installed also. Plus got my hotbodies rear hugger my wife got me for christmas fitted, painted and installed. Just had to take the smallest amount off the right side and add a bolt to the top to get it to fit perfectly.

Painted the front and rear master cylinder, clutch perch, stator cover and case cover. Ended up not being able to get the deep scratches out of the covers so ordered some R&G racing covers which will hopefully be here in the next week or two.

Picked up my Exotic Motorsports rearsets from the powdercoater today. Textured satin black just like the frame. Anybody looking for quality rearsets check these out. Hadn't got to try them out yet but the build quality is awesome.

All bolted up along with installing my frame plugs.

Hooked up the old tank to make sure she still runs......started right up! Needless to say I was relieved!

And last but not least....got an email from Auctmarts last Monday letting me know my fairings are ready to be shipped with this picture attached! Can't wait!

That's all for now! More to come!

Agree with ya 100%.
Damn, I need some of you gear heads near me. How much did you buy it for and how much have you put in, thus far? Great work, my goodness.

Thanks! I bought it for 3500. I guess I got about 1k or so in it so far. Still cheaper than a new one. 05-06 model was always my favorite so its worth it to me. Plus doing all this makes it to where I know damn near everything about this bike. Having a manual printed and on my phone helps ALOT.

Few more updates.....
Got my core moto brake lines ran and brakes bled.

Did something a little different with the front sprocket cover. Didn't wanna leave it completely off or cut it out and risk it looking like crap. So made a template of the dimples, drilled holes and added rubber grommets to them. Don't think it turned out to bad.

Took a quick video....

And today I had a box waiting for me finally!

Hadn't had time to open all of them but I did check at least one piece and they look perfect. Auctmart definitely packaged them good. Thanks to anyone who is reading this for posting fairings reviews....definitely made my decision a lil easier.
