Should I? Loosing motivation. What do you do?

Most of you know my project that has been on going for the past year. I dont get to ride it much due to it being at the shop and that the roads here arent spectacular.

The bike has a long ways to go still till it is complete. The frame will be getting a fresh powder coating, the transmission replaced, the 07 custom trellis frame, 07 Two Brothers exhaust, a PC3 added, along with some freshly painted fairings. Well, that is the current plan. A majority of the work has already been completed. It will still be a while till everything is said and done. I am estimating a couple of months at least.

My current issue is that I am running out of steam. I am considering selling or trading it....I kind of want to get a V8 or another project car like a mid 70s Datsun and doing a few nice things to it.

I dont know....I need some motivation! What do you guys do when a project looses its first wind?

Look for inspirations from other builds and photos or videos, and if it's still a thing of past, sell it.

It will be worth it in the long run man
Uncompleted projects will haunt you. When I got divorced like 8 years ago I had to let my 67 bug go. It was far from done.but the few times I got to roll it. It was amazing I will never forget letting the air out of my front end shooting sparks at a bug meet at 5 am just having fun. I can tell you if you dont finish it being this close it will always bug you. It will be a huge what if later down the road. And God forbid you sell and the next owner fucks it up that shit is the worst.
Definately dont give up man, I remember being inspired to get back in the garage and work on my bike when I saw your pictures last year.

Usually if I lose steam I take a break, my last break was about a month. I had my motor torn apart in my bedroom (which I rent and is hilariously small) and when I got demotivated I secured it and just let it sit. I played computer games, went out with friends, and worked on a buddies truck without even thinking about the bike for a while. Then, by chance I came across a ride of the century video on youtube. That gave me the bug again and I really wanted to get out and ride. Two weeks later the motor was reassembled and installed back in the frame.

You'll be glad you kept this project, you're just a bit burnt out on it right now. Give it a few weeks and come back to it and you'll likely have a second wind.
Come buy my GTO. It's got everything done to be way fast and look fantastic :D:

Sandy with the shameless plugs...

Out of curiosity, what are you looking to get for it? :D
I can understand if you're like... 30% into something after a year, but if you're pretty close to finishing this project... do it! It's YOUR vision. YOUR dream... DO IT!

If you sold a 70% finished project to someone else... that bike won't have the same love.

You could learn how to spell as a new exercise (kidding...!) :p

I've been cursorily following your build thread, and if I'm not wrong, I remember you saying that you don't particularly enjoy riding your bike, thanks to all of the straight roads near you. I'm not sure how much more you can really do it, if I'm honest. Maybe pick up a new hobby? Restore a classic bike, perhaps? You do have a great aesthetic sense.

Probably 25 .... which I'll never get.

With a CF driveshaft, Monaro front end, CF spoiler and diffuser, VMR wheels and RE11 tires, various bushings.

And that's JUST the stuff I've put on in the last <1000 miles. The full mod list is very long :O

The GTO is an amazing car, it's just not as fun as a bike. And it's taking up a spot in my garage that could be filled with more bikes or a utilitarian vehicle to haul the bike(s) to the track.

By the end of the year, I hope to have an entirely different garage.

Sell my Fusion for a WRX as my daily driver.
Sell my GTO for a <truck> or <small SUV>.
Sell my 09 6R for a 13+ 6R OR a track bike and street bike.

Right now, Beard is in possesion of the bike. I am probably going to go check it out this weekend to help get the exhaust situated and to drop of a few parts. I may snag a few pics while I am out there.

The only thing that reall concerns me is money. I am trying to save a little bit more this year and pay a few things off.

Instead of paint, I may rewrap a few of the fairings to save money.

I want to ride/drive something else besides my daily.

And ignore the spelling errors. no spell check on these computers that I am on.

Thanks! It means a lot knowing I helped someone get their bike going again. I want this bike to be something special.

I usually get like this every year, then around March/April when it warms up I suddenly get really motivated to ride and finish up the projects. I guess it's different if it's always warm where you are.

I'm in northern Colorado and we're really lucky to usually have some warm sunny spells mid-winter, get the blood flowing again for sure.

P.s. Sixx's bike is one of the most motivational I've seen, it has been my background at work on multiple occasions. Props

ZXROM's got the idea. I find during the winter, that I think things through too much and the ideas I once had lose their lust. For instance, when I saw Sixx's bike it gave me a little motivation to still get my wheels done when I was really settling my mind on leaving them as is.

You may not go through winter and have the boredom streaks some of us do, but you may just need to give your mind some fresh air. Change your bikes direction, start another sub project. Say f*ck it to something that just ain't working right and save your energy for what matters.

Sixx was my inspiration as well, and now I plan on out doing him. He got me working on mine again when I was considering the 09 for swap. I am probably going by the shot this weekend to check the bike out.
