Yamaha USA had a short post so im assuming its true. Go to the R1 forum, have a news article on there about a male in his 20's that was killed in a motorcycle accident. Broaster Racing has it posted on FB now. They were his sponsor

Is there a story on this? Any outside circumstances? Regardless it's incredibly sad but I'm curious as to the how & why.

Crazy. He was at Hellett all weekend terrorizing the rest of us mortals. Amazing rider! He went around me like I was parked then he hit the brake hard and would swing the rear out really far and slide it into the corners, then ride a wheelie out of the corners down the entire length of every straight. RIP

RIP, sucks to see such a great racer taken out on the streets.

Damn that's a shame, he was a great racer. Rip Dane. My condolences to his friends and family.

I was at Hallett this weekend and this guy was amazing! On Saturday he was coming out of turn 9 and would wheelie all the way down to 10, and I don't mean the front end was hovering, he had the bike straight up! Then on Sunday he would come out of 10 screaming towards 9 and pitch his bike sideways as he entered the turn, rear end squealing, just awesome to watch him ride. Thanks for the show this weekend and RIP Dane. Your last weekend on earth was an awesome one!

"This Just In: Dane Westby's long-time friend and former mechanic Dustin Meador visited the crash site and believes that skid marks at the scene indicate that Westby was trying to avoid something in his path. "There's a burger joint across the street there and I think someone was rolling out of there and he was trying to avoid getting hit," said Meador. "He was in the left-hand tire track of the right lane. The skid marks start out going straight and then veer off toward the curb. He was on the brakes. To me it was pretty obvious that he was trying to avoid something."

people are douche-bags normally, couple that with the "oh shit that was my fault" effect and the "there i dont think anyone saw me do that" effect and douche-bags are going to turn tail and run regardless of the damage cause to someone elses life.

it's a damn shame that tragedy like this has to happen. RIP #00
