Relocating the R/R without having to extend wiring harness?

Regarding the 2013+

There are two cables that go into the R/R, One definitely has enough slack to relocate the R/R under the seat or in a similar area, however, the other one immediately combines with the wiring harness.

Before I start lifting my tank and tearing apart my wiring harness, can anybody tell me if there's enough slack in this cable to relocate under the seat or near the seat area? If so, I want to do it myself, but if it needs to be extended, I'm going to have a professional do it.

I know there's another topic on this which I asked this question but the answer still remains unknown to me. Thanks!

Mine is on the left side of the bike down by the side stand location.
Came that way..

If you go the profession route. Insist on see there work.
HOW do they extend the wires, solder and heat shrink? What gauge wire will they use.
I've seen too many mechanics who can not wire to save there lives, they take money so are call professionals LOL.

Using connectors that plug into the stock harness and rectifier would be the cleanest way to go.

For the 13+ its actually on the clutch side and it mounts to the fairings. This is a major pain in the ass for someone like me that uses the bike for track and street that is constantly swapping fairings. I have to basically remove the R/R from its mount. Remove the mount from the fairings. Put the R/R back into the mount, and then I simply just ziptie it to my track fairings. But then I have to put the fairings on and move the R/R to the right spot while plugging it in and making sure it doesn't wedge a certain way that prevents me from bolting down the fairings. I actually finally stripped one of the fairing mount threads because of it being off center because of the R/R was in the wrong spot so I decided I'm done with it, want to relocate it.

My 13 has a dumb weird 3 off angle brackets that mounted to the main left fairing nexr to radiator.

I just duplicated the spot a little lower basically maximizing the wire harness length, 2x quick holes and ziptie that bitch in there.

I too was going to open the wire harness and stick it in the tail/subframe.

But thats like 1+ hr of work to get it all nice and cleaned.... fuck dat

Not sure how similar the harnesses between the 09-12 and the 13+ are, but I was able to locate mine under the tail section without extending the wires on my 09. The lead from the stator was easy and plenty long. The lead from the harness took a little bit of work but nothing crazy. Obviously the harness needed pulled back a good bit and although I didn't have to extend the wires, I did have to cut the plug off just to free the three wires from the rest in the harness to give me enough slack. Hope this provides some insight for ya.-Steven
