Am I being stupid ? I have just bought a rear seat cowel for my 2006 zx636.
I have removed the rear seat and placed the cowel in its place but it doesn't lock, thwerefore is loose and can just be pulled off quite easily!
Can anyone help am I missing something ???

You probably need to add some washers in to make it fit properly. I don't think I know anyone who hasn't needed to do that in order to make it fit properly. If I remember, I'll get you a picture of mine tonight, but basically I just needed to add washers on the screws in the front between the metal frame and the plastic seat itself to make it close and latch.
Thank for that:)
A picture of yours would be a massive help if poss.

Cheers
I dunno how much the Cowles have changed since 2006 but thst definitely doesn't look right. That looks pretty cheaply made actually.

The only other thing I was gunna suggest is make sure you didn't knock the spring loose that connects to the key that allows the cowel to be removed or locked in.

Yea but mine is a 2013 so I dunno if my bike is designed differently. :)
That looks like the right cover for your bike and the correct bracket. They're all going to fit like shit in some way or another unless you buy it directly from Kawasaki. Take the bracket off and place washers under it and screw it back in. You'll have to play around with the number of washers until you get a good fit.

So hopefully those pictures are good enough to show what I had to do with mine. I had to add washers on each of the two front bolts between the plastic seat cowl and the metal frame.

Hopefully that helps you. Let me know if I can do anything else to help

I've put a couple of washers under each front bolt and the cowel now locks in but is still a bit loose side to side ! Any more tips ?
