I have an 06 ZX6R. I'm getting ready to install 08 ZX6R Nissin calipers and want to order new SS brake lines as well.

My question is, do I go with a set for an 06 or 08? I know the 06 lines will work but are a little long. Would rather have the right length if the 08 lines will bolt up to the 06 stock MC.

Thanks for any help!

Yes, will bolt up directly to MC. same dia. banjo bolts for any jap bike aka metric.

take the 06 model just to be safe. i doubt there would be any difference in routing between zx6r models. i don't like the OEM routing anyways. air could get trapped in the line that reaches from one caliper over to the other side across the fender. easy fix of eliminating bubble in such a line would be taking the caliper with the single line hook up off the fork, take out the snap rings of the fender, put the caliper over to the other side and hold it high so the air could travel up the unbolted caliper towards its bleeding nipple.

p.s. don't get nervous when installing new lines and having trouble priming the MC (no brake pressure on the lever whatsoever).

some research here will tell you how to deal with that problem.

Thanks for the reply. I'm planning on running the SS lines separately from each caliper to the MC so I wouldn't have the loop over the fender like the stock routing. Think I'll play it safe and go with the 06 kit since I read plenty of posts of people using them with the 07+ calipers.

Sounds like you already got the correct info here. Yes, 06 lines will work just fine, but there will be excess slack as they are a bit long for the 07-12 Nissin calipers.

Another thing to keep in mind, the 05-06 master cylinder has a known pressure loss issue and should be rebuilt with new internals or replaced. I rebuilt mine and the pressure loss issue evaporated, but was still much happier when I replaced it with an 07+ unit.

Already have the revised MC part on order. I'm doing the calipers, Vesrah RJL pads, SS lines, MC rebuild, and Motul RBF600 fluid.

Planning on doing my first track day this year and hoping this setup will do the trick.
