This is a good place to start.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane

Then you can click the "knock" on the "anti-knock", it's a good jumping off spot for a world of info.

And when you are done, every one and their dog will want to argue about performance and hp gain or loss with higher octane.:confused

Good luck.:dowhat

I stick in whatever says 'Premium', that's between 92 and 98 octane if I remember correctly. I just pull up and whack in whatever.

But there's RON PON and MON for Octane numbers. (R+M)/2

Code:
RON MON PON
90 83 86.6
92 85 88.5
95 87 91
96 88 92
98 90 94
100 91.5 95.8
105 95 100
110 99 104.5

:stupid once you convert to the US way of measuring most things are happy on regular. I know my TLS has lived 54k miles on regular quite happily. No knocking and making full power without a doubt (been on a dyno for proof even).

If it were me, I'd run regular and see what happens, but I'm a mad scientist type:laugh
