RAM Mount stem mount with x-grip.
You can use the U shaped mount in the holes of the triple or mount it in the stem. I have mounted in the stem and did end up shaving a little off the mount itself to clear the damper.I like the Ram stem mount with the x-grip set up, only issue I see with them is the inability to use a stabilizer with it.
$50 to know my phone won't go flying off isn't too expensive IMO. Plus I use all of their other mounting balls on different places on the bike for my camera. I don't like the idea of sticking Go Pro mounts all over my bike.Ram mount is expensive, are there any cheaper option you guys use
Agreed, just bought mine.$50 to know my phone won't go flying off isn't too expensive IMO. Plus I use all of their other mounting balls on different places on the bike for my camera. I don't like the idea of sticking Go Pro mounts all over my bike.
The U-bolt is for mounting to set of handlebars and I think it's better suited for bikes without clip-ons. There just isn't enough space for the U-bolt on our clip-ons but RAM sells both the stem mount which is a rubber bushing that expands inside the steering stem and also a brake/clutch reservoir base which comes with longer bolts and you just unbolt the back of your clutch or brake lever and install the RAM mount with the longer bolts. It is the U-bolt mount right?
You can get it on Amazon for $30 by buying the 2 pieces separately. And if you have Prime you get the shipping with it too. Might have seen free shipping on anything over $35 as well.
We are going to wire it to something that only draws power after the bike starts. Thanks for the warning though.A word of advice for anyone wiring up a usb charger. Make sure to tap into switched power instead of wiring straight to the battery. I initially wired straight to my battery and my battery would be dead after having the bike sit over a week.
I have my battery tender coming out of the tail. I have a usb port that plugs into it and then a 5ft usb to micro usb that runs from the tail up under the tank and out by the stem. I just plug it in before I head out and BOOM, instant power.Agreed, just bought mine.
Now I want to find a way to wire in a usb hub or something to the bike to be able to plug in any usb charger for different devices that might fit in the mount.
