Hey everyone,

Name is Korey. I'm currently enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and stationed in Japan for my first 2 years. Recently got out of an engagement so I said what the hell, buy a bike! I bought a 2004 Ninja ZX6R with roughly 8,000 miles on it. It's currently sitting at home with my brother until I get back stateside.

I was born and raised in Michigan. Rode dirt bikes growing up but never been on the back of a motorcycle. Both my older brother and younger sister serve in the Navy. Older brother has been riding for a couple years. He enjoys his Harley's over sport bikes.

While I'm in Japan I want to learn everything I can on the Do's and Don'ts of riding. I can use any tips you're willing to give me. Biggest thing is I'm here to meet riders and hopefully make some friends for when I do come back stateside. I'll have a group to ride with willing to show me the ropes first hand.

I am obsessed with stunt riding. I want to learn everything there is about it. What I don't want is to be that asshole on the road with traffic, doing wheelies and burnouts. That's not me. I want to be smart about when and where I practice my stunts. Being stupid out on the street puts myself and others in danger.

Other than that guys there's not much about me. I enjoy staying active and working out. In my profession I really don't have a choice about that. I enjoy getting tattoos, but don't smoke or drink. All around I'm easy going and a friendly guy.

If you want to know anything more about me just shoot me a direct message or comment on my thread.

Thanks!

Welcome, nice job getting camp fuji lol.

I'm not exactly sure that i personally would buy an 11 year old bike and have it for two years before i could ride it(excluding leave), not that it may be mechanically sound or anything, i just dont think i deal with the fact i own a bike but cant ride it :p but congrats, none the less.
The bike was bought from a friend who is deploying next month. I picked it up for $2,000 and my brother checked it out. Buying it now let's be buy any parts I want for it and really make it my own. Planning on going to UTI for their motorcycle program after I EAS.

I understand what you're trying to say though. Appreciate the input!
The gi bill is a good deal, im currently using it, so thats a good plan i think. its a little early, but really start researching the chapter 30 vs post 9/11 when you get ready to EAS. when it comes to certifications, Ch. 30(Montgomery) is normally the best option.

if you have any questions about stunt riding/set ups, theres a section on the forum for it, but there are also many other websites specifically dedicated to it, id check those out to.

I'll be sure to double check between the two and make sure I get the best use from the one I go with. As far as stunt riding goes I'm already all over different websites. If you know of any links feel free to shoot them my way.

Thanks!

Welcome, and thank you for your service.

My brother served in the Corps.... I was the one that went in the Navy. He was stationed in Yuma, and Okinawa during his 4 years.

I saw him graduate basic in San Diego, in 1976.

Sterling Heights and Imlay City. I see you're from Grand Rapids so I know exactly where you're at.

Damn, that would be my luck. You know of any other Tech school that offers a motorcycle program and accepts the GI Bill?
It will cover it, I have a friend who is using post 9/11 at mmi phoenix as we speak, just have to get AZ state-ship to make it work with the GI bill.

Looks like I'll be moving to Arizona in a couple years.

Thanks hellonearth!
Welcome and thank you for serving!
Aside from what others have said, look into enrolling in the Motorcycle Safety Foundation rider training course. There are others that hold it too. They provide the bike and helmet so you don't have to bring yours. Even though it is "basic" I can guarantee you WILL learn some things. It might save your ass and it will get you an insurance discount.
Hello and welcome!
Welcome....Yea definitely do your research on which chapter to use and depending on if you ended up with anything that rates you for disability I believe 20%+ you can do voc rehab which will cover damn near everything in the event the GI Bill won't and if you qualify for the post 9/11 you can still get the BAH rate while doing voc rehab.

That and take advantage of the FDC when you're about to EAS so that you will get your retro payment for whatever they rate you at once they complete your claim.
