Hey everyone I've been browsing this forum for some time but didn't feel right joining since my old bike wasn't a zx6r. Well about 2 weeks ago I got my 09 zx6 and I'm loving it. I got it with 17k miles and a hotbodies exhaust, fender eliminater, and an integrated tail light. Just stopping by to say hey and ask if anyone had any idea for me to do to my bike. All ideas are welcome wether its performance or cosmetic. Thanks guys.

Welcome out! Congrats on the new bike and we would like to see it. What was your old bike?

Welcome. I like my '09 quite a lot. So far, it's been a decent bike. First thing I would do, is download the shop manual from this site. That's what brought me here, a few years ago. Knowledge is power.

I've had to feed it more parts than I would have liked that went beyond routine maintenance, so here's a few things to be on the lookout for:

1) There is a Kawasaki recall on the regulator/rectifier -- if it hasn't already been done, the dealer will do it for free. You can check the tailsection frame for a blue dot -- if that's not present, call and have the dealer check the VIN. This can lead to early failure of the alternator (stator, specifically).

2) The throwout rod on the clutch failed on my bike. The adjustment kept going opposite of what is expected, until the cable snapped the tip of the rod off. This happened inside the transmission case... I was fortunate it happened in my garage with the motor off. The part is inexpensive, and not too difficult to replace.

3) The OEM suspension settings are really, really stiff for street riding.

My last bike was a 05 ex500. It was a great beginner bike but after a year and a half it was time to move up. Thanks for the info. I'll post the pics that I have currently. Haven't had much time to take pics been too busy riding lol.
Nice bike!
But....umm....give er a wash please!
Yeah I have since these pictures. This was the day I got her and I had to ride her home right after it rained.
