Meet Jade, 2015 ZX6R 30th Anniversary Edition!

Hello All, I am BACK! Turns out my... ahem... upgrade would be sooner than later. I was searching around local dealers and stumbled across a possible sale. I sent him an email asking how much he would give for a trade up. Told me the bike I was looking at has a down payment already but they are waiting for the guy to show up later that day. I was all cool can I still come see it? We talked on the phone for a bit discussing possible trade values, and bike value of the Zx6r.

I get to the shop around 5pm, the bike is still there. Other dude backed out of it at 4:40pm. I wasn't being 100% serious for the buy but its available and once I sat on it I knew. Okay game face on...lets see what I can do.

Still serious face talking about it notice some scuffs on the handle bar sides. He says yea it was dropped going up a ramp onto a trailer. This works to my advantage. Bring him to my bike which has ~1300 miles on the odometer. It is in Pristine condition no drops, etc. He says okay lets run some numbers. Go inside like how low can I ball this.. decide $5k OTD with trade in my mind. Just so that I can work up from there. Again I was content with my 300, I just wanted to see if he was willing to haggle a bit.

Dude offers 2900 for trade, sets the 636 at 8450 (6118ish OTD after calculations). That's not really what I am willing to pay for the bike. I wasn't really expecting to buy today anyway, again my current bike is in great condition and no real reason to upgrade besides dream bike.

I ask him about previous owners, how it had such low mileage, break in (hard, soft, medium) He starts talking about the other owner. The buyer bought it for his son who is in the military. The son gets deployed overseas for like 2+ years. So the dealer bought it back (at a higher than they should have price) but still just needs it gone for new inventory. I say well my bike has really low mileage for a 2014. That should up the value. Also I have a couple mods here and there. He says that is true hang on lemme run more numbers. Drops the Zx6 to $7990, sets my trade in at $3200. OTD $5345 after trade. I am now interested in buying it.

Ok keep it calm, what can I get out of this? Offers a free suspension adjust ($100) and gives me $3300 for my trade (drops the total price to 5145 if you subtract the $100 for the suspension and up the trade in value). I tell him I can get him cash in hand tomorrow if He can get it to $5k even. Dude says.. I can't really go any lower I am losing so much already. So I ask for more stuff. (Will find out the extras tomorrow when I get the bike) Possiblity of keychains or tank pads or something.

Edit: TL:DR I was originally going to just look at the bike and offer some really low amount just to just walk away. Dealer actually matched very close to what I asked for.. So I am now the owner of a 2015 Zx6r.

So Here are some teaser pics.

A great paint scheme, imo. Hope you hang on to that 636 with the 30th anniversary paint for a long time.
It may be just me, but I have the feeling in 20 years I will lay eyes once again on that 636 and say, "Those were the days, ya'll".

Just like the '72 H2, the first Z1, the CB750, or even the first Ducati Superbike.

You are indeed a fortunate young Sod. I too, have a 30th Anniversary '15. Best looking non-Italian bike in the last decade (in my opinion).

It's a fabulous bike, you'll have no real need to let it go - except boredom/stupidity. It's a great bike. And since most parts (excluding the white '30th Anniversary' upper panel) are exchangeable with '13-'17 ZX-6Rs. Good luck with your new Pride & Joy.

Actually got around to take some good pictures!

Update: The bike was dropped from previous owner. He was walking it up the ramp of the trailer and it tipped over on him. The frame slider saved the plastics but there is a chip below the right front fork(it was inspected and no structural damage). Then the handle bar. After riding it around today I did not notice any wobble nor did I feel that the front tire was having any issues.
Without further ado,
Please welcome Jade! My new(to me but still pretty new) 2015 Zx6r 30th Anniversary edition! I Just hit 1000 miles exactly!
