I'm in Flint I'm picking my 2007 ZX-6R in the morning. I'm excited as hell

thanks bro I'm planning on riding in a few weeks hopefully the weather feels the same way
Welcome to the forum! There are a few of us around including a newer guy (going to have to try to remember who) from just east of lansing a bit somewhere. I'll absolutely be headed out past you to meet people on the east side a few times this summer, I'm sure, so you're more than welcome to join :bigthumb:

That's me! I'm from Haslett, right on the edge of East Lansing. Hopefully this weather turns around real fast. Just ordered some more stuff for my bike today, so I at least have some time to pretty her up before it gets warm.
Definitely I'm always game for trip. And I have a few things to order my self.

north of lansing, live 1/4 mile off from round lake road (bikers know the road). we usually head to lansing Hooters on Tuesday bike nights. last year on Mondays in Haslett Vision collision sponsored a bike night at the Bluegill Grille near Lake Lansing. we spend most of the spring, summer and fall at sportbike track time events at grattan, gingerman, barber and the gap a few times a season, a fall color ride in northern Michigan or Ontario near lake superior. lots to do on bikes here, in the mitten state.

race bike is at the tuner getting updated and tuned for season.
in 4 weeks the wife and I will be in Alabama doing this, and 6 weeks we will be in Tennessee and NC doing this :D

warm weather is coming. :gixxer:Ski

looks good. nitrus is the only one I've ridden with that does not have a black bike. What mods do you have planned?
Whats going on fellas....

I know im from the east coats and all.

So Me and Scott Diamond from Moto-D Racing are planning to come out to Grattan Raceway with Sportbike Track Time in the middle of April for a trackday weekend.

My question in general, what kind of weather and temp should we except to see? Please say dont cold and snow lol.

For Trackday riders whose been there, how Grattan conditions? also do they supply power? camping grounds?

Thanks

By mid-April there shouldn't be snow around anymore, but it's not impossible :O

itll be cold and possibly foggy in the morning. That side of the state gets lake effect snow so its definitely a possibility. Don't worry Manolo I lived in Carlstadt for most of my life (18 years, if you're around 31 y/o we have probably met). The track will be pretty busy since everyone is anxious to get out there.

nothing impossible when it comes to weather

Yeah, it'll be the same at my home track the weekend before, its gonna be jammed pack with hot headed angry riders ready to hit the track. I wouldnt be surprised out there neither. We'll be watching the weather forecast prior to attending.

Grattan is far enough east into the state that we don't really get much lake effect anymore. There's a bit from time to time, but not that much really and by April it should be gone...hopefully...

On a related note, anyone coming to Grattan should let me know so I can at least come watch and meet some people even if I don't have the funds to participate. I only live about 20min from the track - could maybe even have some folks over for some burgers and beers if timing works out right
Good deal Nitrus. I should be coming out to the track in April or May depending on funds and weather. Make sure to enter that ride right thing on the STT forums so you can get a free day.
Manolo, the april dates, and October dates at Grattan are a crap shoot. in 2013 the april event, there was ice on the track, and they were salting it to get the track "rideable".

last year Monday or Tuesday prior to the event, there was several inches of fresh snow on the track, they cancelled the event. by that weekend it was 65-70 degrees at the track and sunny (go figure).

if you really want to have a great experience at grattan I would suggest events in may through labor day. anything before or after is a crap shoot. wera races there in may and august. and the 4th of july event is a 3 day event with the ladies only event on Friday, and normal track days for sat and sunday.

I do love me some grattan though. you can camp at the track (no fees, unless you rent a garage). no supplied power so, bring your genny.

more than likely, I will be coaching with stt for the grattan events, all season. we will have to keep I touch, and put a face to the name. Ski

Thanks for the info Ski, we're planning a few days out there this year. Grattan in april and august, autobahn is june, and blackhawk in july but we're hoping for good weather.

i'm assuming the garage doesn't have supplied power neither ??? i guess us east coast riders are spoiled with supplied power.

i remember seeing on STT website that they have genny for rent. we can go down that route.
