I drove past this dealership yesterday and spotted the ZX6R in the used bikes.... can't decide if it's inexpensive or not.

Nice but a tad steep on price.
For a couple grand more you can get a new one with no miles!

Well. It being the gen before the newest hurts it on that price. And the miles are a little high. I can see them selling it tho. Especially this time of year and availability

Im slowly starting to see new holdover bikes at dealers which was not common over the last few years. Personally, I think dealers are going to have a lot of stock with nobody to buy come summertime which will inevitably force them to lower asking price. I could be wrong though, I usually am lol.

With those miles it’s surly a trade in.

Starting about 3 years ago we haven’t had a single hold over and we sell every brand except husky gas gas Harley and Indian. It’s been the opposite this last year. We almost sell out before the manufacturers actually get us what we order. And we never get the quantity ordered. Especially 21 models. 21 was the first year the manufacturer failed to deliver on what we ordered. It’s starting to get a little better tho. Aside from Ktm. Ktm still is very behind.

The way it works tho. Dealerships usually don’t pay for the bikes up front. We pay a “floor fee”. So usually by the end of the model year if it’s been there the whole year the profit is gone. And there just isn’t a great profit margin on new units. So if you see a year old bike on the floor that means the dealership went ahead and bought the unit and you will usually pay what they paid. So don’t expect the number to get much lower. Unless they just want to take a loss to move it and gain a customer

Almost 9 grand is still a lot for a 5 year old bike. Especially considering 2023s are listed from anywhere between 10-11 and they come with a warranty.

Agree. The miles hurt it worse than the year tho.

Everything considering it’s prob between 1-2k more than I’d expect to sell it here. Ya do save a little off the actually number on used bikes versus new. But the taxes are still there. You will usually have more negotiating room on used unit too. Surly if it was a trade in they can’t be in it close to that. Heck thats like trading even for a new one lol

Least whoever bought it originally actually rode it. Ya see a lot of these older sport bikes with dang near no miles. I just traded for a 12 with 4800 miles. The 23 my son rides just hit 5 lol.

I was interested in the bike if it had ABS, from a 'gee whiz, I'd like to take a test ride on it' perspective.

They also had a retro looking Kawa 900/1000 on the lot which looked promising. Again, ABS would have been a clincher. Didn't look at it any closer than 'that looks like something I would be interested in riding'.

Yea, have to agree with eh comments. Seems a bit high given the age and mileage. Bike prices have been way higher over the last 2 to 3 years. Most likely they gave too much on trade and will suffer on the sale. But it is a nice looking bike and if it has been well maintained the mileage is not that high. My two year old Yamaha has 26,500 miles on it and they are mostly trip miles so lots more time in higher gears and easy throttle openings.

I agree on ABS, now days ABS is essential for me. Don't ever use it but want to minimize my risk on the streets and with more and more crazies driving.

The odds of a dealership allowing a test ride on an off brand used bike is higher than with any zero mile new unit…. Still not that great, but Indian has been doing demo rides at that dealership since it opened a very few years ago.

Since they cater to the senior riders who are typically able to afford $30+K toys they might be more amenable.

So what exactly do dealers pay for holdover bikes? Msrp? Lower than that? Im currently looking into buying a new road glide of all things and im trying to figure out what i should be paying.

There is no set number. Every manufacturer has different numbers for every model and those don’t even stay the same through the years. I can tell you when a store sells a 15k bike for Msrp they barley make any money.
Road glide is Harley. I’d just be guessing or assuming if I said anything. Harley seems to have there won unique set of rules.

Price is accurate. The miles lowered the price for sure but not a terrible deal. R6’s are over MSRP now if you want one that can be street registered.
What do you mean by “if you want it street registered”. I’m assuming if you just bought one to race? But how could that change msrp?
Another trick is travel to a state that doesn’t collect sells tax and buy it there. You will only need to pay the taxes if you register it back in your state. You will pay your state taxes. We have a fair amount of customers with North Carolina addresses buy off-road units from us and we don’t have to charge them the Tenn sells tax. Works good if you’re not registering it. And of course can come up with a North Carolina address. I have had cash guys just make up an address. (Allegedly) lol

I was just quoted 29,000 for a damn holdover base model road glide. Msrp on that particular model was 22,500. Fk me. Lol

The only variant of an R6 available new anymore is a race only version

thus the street legal 08-21? are all overpriced shitboxes and people still buy them at scamdemic pricing becasue they are stupid
