So i figured i'd start a thread to show my progress on my bike, first bike for me, and the mods and styling direction i'm taking her.

I'm open for suggestions on styling, performance, and cool mods.

Styling:
integrated turn signal
smoked flush mount turn signals
double bubble smoke windscreen
shorty clutch and brake levers
Fender eliminator
American flag decals
LED turn signals
Soon to upgrade instrument cluster

Performance:
Sadly nothing in this department yet :(
Soon to add an MTM exhaust.
Want to upgrade to nissin brake calipers and some steel braided lines.
Want to get a power commander
Need to do the jumper mod
Want to change front sprocket to -1.
Want to add exhaust head wrap

So here's some pictures of when i first took her home:

Then i modded the front and rear turn signals and put the rear spindles on it. Also added the double bubble windscreen. Its dark but for the AZ sun and heat i'd rather not cook my instrument cluster.

Then came frame slider from T-Rex racing. Awesome product with outstanding build quality. Also was shorty levers. They may not be ASV but they have some awesome quality and work like a charm.

Some new rubber!!! Hypersport S20's. Absolutely love these tires. So much grip and control as well as rider feedback.

Added my American flag decals

Thanks for any future suggestions.

Got the same smoked tail as you. Fitment was almost perfect. Just the lighting is a little dim for my taste. It looks good on your bike. Black and gold looks good to me. Gold chain and maybe even paint rims. If not, polish the rims.

If you don't end up going nissins. I suggest just going with some ss lines and ebc hh pads. I'm running goodridge front and rear ss lines with an accosato mc. Lever pull is so smooth compared to the stock mc. That and I don't have to worry about our crappy mcs anymore. The ss lines do make the brake feel a lot better. The ebc hh i'll have to get back to you on that one. I'm still trying to wear out the two sets that came with the bike.

The only reason I changed my mind about the nissins was that after rebuilding calipers on three different bikes, I realized that if I buy a used set of calipers, I wouldn't feel comfortable with another person's work. Idk how they really took care of it so I would have to rebuild the calipers for a piece of mind. So it would cost me ~250-300 to have good rebuilt nissin calipers. Then you would need pads ~$80 or so. So instead I saved the money and went with the ss lines and mc. I'm happy with them since I don't track my bike or anything close to that nature.

looks great man. After having a an 05 Green 636 I am so happy I bought a black one this time. I love blending in instead of being singled out. I should upgrade my levels as well. I like the ones you bought, so u will have to let us know how they work out.

What does SS stand for and where did you get your SS lines from as well as that MC from.

The levers are fantastic. The adjusters on them are awesome cause you can mess with them on the fly. I was very impressed with the build quality and how much you can customize the bits on them from the website.

SS = stainless steel

I picked mines up front motomummy. Love that they do free shipping to hawaii. I don't plan on keeping my bike forever so I went with goodridge lines. If you are in for the long haul, i would rather prefer to get HEL lines. Was going to get those but opted not to.

As for the mc, I ordered it through a shop down here. Was fixing and replacing every single brake component since I was having my front brakes lock up on me (6 times total). The mc isn't a must, but the lever pull is awesome. You could also go with brembo mc too.

Thanks man. I'll get to looking. I was thinking of gold lines but may do black lines with gold bits. Thoughts?

I'm picking up mine mid January!!! Same as yours, black but since it used to be originally silver/titanium it comes with those cherry red rims.

IMO, i wouldn't go smaller in the front sprocket!
Just go +3 or even 4 up in the rear.
Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator

The typical -1/+2 gives you 12% increase in acceleration/torque but will rev high at Hwy speeds.

if you'd do +4 you get 9% increase and spending half hour on the hwy is nicer on your ears vibrations and to the bike, scaring less drivers. I shrug when a big comes out of nowhere passing me especially with a super loud exhaust on it.

I did +3 on my J model. was nice but I think i'm gonna do +4 on the 636. Just getting tricky if I wanted to take it to the track.

That's sweet!!! you gonna go with a black and red look?
I"m trying to stick with a black and gold look. I'm debating if i'll have the wheels powder coated gold. I'm deciding if it'll be a bit too flashy. I like the subtle gold bits here and there to add some pop to the black beauty :).

I may go with a no change in gearing in the front but a lighter chain and +2 with a lighter sprocket in the rear for a tad more acceleration. Less rotating mass :). I'm getting a minor in physics and mathematics :). I'm a nerd haha. Don't wanna go overboard. I like the hp that the 636 offers.

I used the vortex billet aluminum sprocket. you might not notice too much of a change with only +2... just play with the numbers on gearingcommander.

the 06 zx already comes with a 520 chain. what else could you do to go lighter?

little hint for doing the rims golden... try plasti dip first (don't clear coat!).
once fully cured you can power wash it and it won't come off until you start peeling it up on a corner.
maybe golden spokes only would look cool too or every 2nd spoke.

If you did your bike that way that would be awesome!!!.
I'll play around on that site and see what would be beneficial.
I wasn't aware that my bike already comes with a 520. That's helpful. Thank you. Your thoughts on a golden chain?
I'm also debating on painting the calipers black. I wanna use smoke/carbon fibre color SS lines with gold accent bits and i feel like the preexisting caliper color will clash.

Use black chain. still has golden links in it. Just looks cooler!

I agree with you on the black calipers. again, try plastiDip. Just gotta be very clean and very dry before spraying anything. I'd pop out the brak pistons and then tape up the inside.

SS brake lines carbon look with golden Banjos would be sick!

ok so its decided that black chain is the way to go. I don't think I'll paint my forks black though. One of the main reasons i'm doing the gold hahaha. I'll try that plasti dip on the calipers and see how that looks. All of the hex bolts that connect the fairings i'm powder coating to gold. My rear sets will be black with some gold accents if I can work it the way i want it.

why bother powedercoating the exisiting bolts!?

i don't know much about painting... but i'd look on ebay first for a set of gold anodized fairing bolts.

BTW, how is that integrated taillight working out for you? where did you buy it from for how much?
Anyone riding behind you complaining about low visibility especially for turning directions???

yeah i may just look on ebay for those bits.

Actually my buddies say that it is really bright even in the day time. The turn signal is plenty bright as it takes up half the light with amber yellow color. I actually got it here: Dot Smoke Tail Brake Light w Turn Signal for Kawasaki Ninja 600 ZX 6R 10R Z750S | eBay
Also here is a pick of the bike at night.

nope nothing on fitment. just you'll have to extend the wires out a bit to fit into the plugs. just makes sure its the same size gauge wire.

Here's what the gold chain would look like on your bike. I currently don't have the fairings on the bike as I'm doing a winter project, but let me know if you want a better pic and I'll send one later tonight.
