In 02 only the A1P got the 636 engine. Not sold in the states only UK/Europe. If it's a US bike it's a 600 if it's European it's probably a 636.
 
The first five digits of the motor number will either be ZX600 or ZX636. The model designation is also in the VIN, either an A or a J, but I can't remember exactly which digit it is.
 
Please don't roast me but I love Kawasaki but I always wondered why they didn't make a 750
They did, the ZX7R, stopped making it in 03 I believe. It was their super bike before they released the ZX10R. This was back when the superbike class in racing was 750 not 1000.
All the big four manufacturers had 750s back then, Suzuki is just the only one who kept producing them.

The R7 looks the best for that era if you ask me.
