Does anyone have a guide to removing the engine?

I want to get the frame ready for paint but not sure on how to go about this.

you don't need to remove the engine to paint the frame
take the tank and fairings off and use newspaper to wrap the engine etc .....then paint it
I done this and it looked bloody good for a few years till I stripped the bike down to the frame for a rebuild

did you sand or scuff up the frame before painting? and what kind of paint did you use?
