Recently purchased the new 2020 ZX6R KRT Edition.
Picked it up on Friday (3rd Jan) and rode it home with the complete inability to comfortably stop (haha)

I am only 5ft1.. and a bit.. that bit counts... so finding a bike to fit in the supersport category was going to be impossible, and alas I decided I'd buy what I liked and work with it from there.
In the garage with the fresh face of Kawasaki is my 2018 Ninja 400, also the KRT Edition. I learnt to ride on the wee Ninja, and because it's such an epic, fun bike, I can't bare to part with it. Plus, two bikes are always better than 1!:satisfied:

As I do track my bikes, I will be unable to lower the 636, so just going to work with minor adjustments. Now, onto the 'mods' list... of which there isn't many but more will come!

- R&G Upper Fairing Protection
- R&G Lower Protection - more into this later, not sure I recommend
- R&G Rear Bobbins
- R&G Tail Tidy (essential, always!)
- R&G Tank Grips - only installed the upper as I stupidly ordered black and should of gone clear... more into this later
- Scorpion Exhaust - Red Power Ceramic Black Design. Said to add a few ponies.. but not actually sure here haha

Running Bridgestone S22's, so keen to see how these go in comparison with the Michelin Power RS I have on the 400 (which are super track tyres...)

Things to tinker with - full system, remove the clunky sound suppressing business from beneath... Bar end protection, I inevitably will drop it at some point given my height...
Will then need tune..

And need to order a spare seat so I can hack into that and give me my legs back for stopping skills.

I'm not usually a fan of flashy graphics/livery on sport bikes, but that actually looks killer.

I initially wanted the 2019 graphic but NZ sold out relatively quick... so had this or black. And I think because I already had the green theme going with the 400, made the call and figured it would grow on me eventually.

R&G Lower Crash protection... Not sure why I ended up with it, probably because I called up and said give me whatever you’ve got. Unfortunately placement is not suitable to probably 90% of riders and it affects you shifts and back braking ability.

I’ll see how long I can last before I get them removed, but photo attached to show exactly what I mean.

Yeah, that definitely looks like a sub-optimal location for a slider/frame protector. I would be hitting my boot on it constantly.

I do like that the location uses the 'through' hole in the frame, to mount the slider...... very solid location that is not going to destroy an engine mounting point.

One of them...but the other one appears to be in the same location as most others, connecting to those frame spars which have been known to rip them apart in the case of a crash. The slider bolt replaces the stock engine mounting bolt at the front.

I figure that secondary, lower on the bike slider has to take the load first.... probably going to reduce the stresses on the engine mounting point if that hits later (even if it's milliseconds later)

I have had more than a few customer bikes come through with this type in that location. It takes a little getting used to and banging your ankle on it when getting on or off seemed to be the only real issue, aside from when seated on the bike you cannot look down and see the shifter?- but that is really a non issue imo
it is one of those things I think you just get used to being there the more your ride.

I have only seen one bike with these come in crashed, and only the (aftermarket- non folding) footpeg and upper sliders hit the ground, the lower slider never touched......... of course some bodywork still touched as did the bar end and lever, but......

Lloyd, if a folding footpeg was in use, would that second slider perform like a case saver?
In conjunction with other protection I imagine it would do some good........ But- like anyhting, it always depends on the crash. lowside slide; I expect these would do very well to atleast keep the swingarm and rear wheel off the ground (which could aid in keeping it just sliding and not flipping)and aid in keeping handlebars/tank either off the ground or into the ground- just because of location/COG- and depending if the bike is sliding wheels first, tank first, forward or backward etc.....

I do think these could potentially keep oe footrests and brackets from snapping off as well as keep the shifter or brake pedal from breaking or bending too far

The main issue for me is tiny person = tiny feet. So I do have to physically move my foot forward in order to shift down or up.
I find it only gets in my way when needing to shift down. It's like it doesn't let me apply the force I need to move it (weird.. I know)

I'm thinking I'll wing it for now, but am taking it on track next week so worst case I pull them off then if I find it's a serious issue.
