How identify what year 636 front end

2626 Views 26 Replies 15 Participants Last post by  scoot33
Looking for help in identifying what year 636 front end I have. I was told that it was an 06 back when I purchased it but that was a long time ago and I want to confirm this is correct. I have read that there are differences between the 03/04, 05/06, 07/08. Any education on what to look for, differences, performance, and pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance
Eric

Is this real!? Dude, Google it! Great intro by the way, sheesh.

FYI, there's a 09, 07/08 and 05/06 (in order from left to right) at the top of this page
what do you mean front end? like the cowling? or the forks? cant be a 07/08 because its 600cc displacement after 06...
40acres....I think today is "troll day" from the looks of all these new posts popping up :laugh

These twerps don't even introduce themselves anymore.
Thanks for the warm welcome 40 acres aka Mr expert? I did google it and I was confused. I bought the front end forks tubes complete triple and calipers for a project bike some time back and want to confirm what I have. I am considering selling them now since I went another direction on the build and want to make sure that I do not sell someone the wrong thing due to my lack of knowledge.
I apologize that I don't own a ZX6 or 636 and have about zero knowledge of these bikes. I did have a ninja 600 back 87 if that helps me be more accepted by you.

In any event I would appreciate any help and I appologize if I have offended any one coming in here with my first post being a question vs lending any helpful info to your forum.

Hey Eric, I am new to the ZX6R family and still quite new to this forum. With that said, it goes a long way by simply introducing yourself, what kind of bike you have, etc and then asking a question. There's a ton of knowledge here, using the search function is quite useful as well.

Welcome and I hope you stay.

Now look at that... A little more information and we've uncovered the real dilemma. Go to partzilla and look at the parts diagrams for your respective bike and compare. You could also post pictures so people can offer up their expertise. Or you could always post them up for sale and tell the buyer to do their own research:O
welcome emu, hows it going got any pics of items that might help id things ,some dudes on here might know by looks and colors ect
its a zx6r btw, not a 636.

there wasn't a 636 made from 07-12

there was such a thing as a 03-06 without a 636 motor as well, they were model zx6rr instead of zx6r.

Cool your jets on criticizing 40acres. He may come on a bit strong at times, but you came in with no introduction and asked for a shit-ton of information and pictures with absolutely no context regarding what you were looking for. Even without an introduction, if you had simply told us what you were trying to do (identify forks, triple, brakes, etc.) we probably could have helped you better and you probably wouldn't have caught as much flack for it.

There's no harm in being confused about what came up in your google searches and coming here to try to find some answers. We are a community built around these bikes and can surely help you find what you're looking for, but it helps to actually know what you're looking for. You also might want to think about how you go about asking for that help...let's consider:

You essentially asked us to post pictures and descriptions of every zx6r kawi has made...when in reality, you could have posted 1 PICTURE YOURSELF and we could easily help you out. Think about that a moment

...

Now, do you understand why that might be a little aggravating to us?

Seriously unless you have anything to contribute quit busting his balls.

I can google 2006 zx6r and I'm sure I'll see 07/08s, 09-12s, and maybe even some J models.

In 03-04 they used Kayaba forks. 05-06 switched to Showa forks and the cap has compression and preload adjust that sticks up on the top cap. 07-08 still Showa forks but switched internals and caps are more flush like newer models.

Thank you to the members that have sincerely tried to help me. I was short on time and not great at posting pictures, perhaps I should have waited to make my first post.

Intro for those that need it.

SWM 43yrs old - Aries - I prefer petite blondes with large breasts and 100lbs. Been riding since my youth, 2, 3, and 4 wheelers off road and of course street bikes and roadrace bikes. Most of bikes are old, the kind that you have to mix oil with the gas. I have raced both on and off road in my younger years and still prefer and have the 2 strokes for either on or off road. Sorry, I do not own a ZX6 at this time. I did have an early Ninja 600 when they came out if that counts and I did just sell, this past Sunday, an 89 Kawasaki ZX7 H1.
I don't ride much anymore but if anyone is in Central FL I would enjoy maybe catching up for ride. It will give me a good reason to pull a bike out.
