Long time not been on here, but having probs now, zx6r 2000, wouldnt start other day , been sitting since oct last year in garage, turned key lights came on, inc headlight, but no kick from starter, so took battery out, cleaned terminals and charged it up,(12.7) on volt meter.put it back in bike,, now nothing not even lights on display, no headlight,, any idea fellow bikers?:butbut:cheers friedegg

I'm no auto electrician so can't tell you if the 12.7v reading on the battery alone is enough to say the battery is still good but if you're not going to start your bike for 6 months you should have put the battery on a trickle charger.

I'm guessing the battery wasn't new to begin with and after you punished it for 6 months it's probably had it. Sometimes there's just enough charge for the lights to come on but not enough to kick the starter motor over.

You can charge a flat battery but a dead battery means it's time for a new one.

Replace all fluids on the bike while you're at it.
