I'm looking for opinions on how this looks on my helmet. I know asking for opinions is a dangerous thing but if I wanted the safest route I wouldn't be riding in the first place. They're attached by heavy duty velcro. My question is does it look better sweeping forward, backward, or not at all

Makes you look like a 15 year old squid, whether forward or backward.

I'm not a fan, but if you like it put them on.

It's your choice. The majority of people on here are probably going to say it looks stupid or squid-ish. For the most part this is a very mature forum, so most of us probably don't like these helmet mohawks or whatever. But I bet you'd get an overwhelmingly positive reaction over on the gixxer forums...

Not my cup o'tea, but hey, you're wearing a helmet.:bigthumb:

Put one on your leather jacket too, it's ok with me.

Personally, I wouldnt rock it and judging by the poll results, not many others would either.
Whatever makes you more noticeable on a bike, is a good thing. Personally, a dark colored helmet and a dark colored fin are too half a$$ed, IMHO.

Own it. If you want to go with a fin, go big, and go bright.

You do need to understand that it will have a very small effect on people seeing you while you are riding. Changing the shape of your profile will make you stick out as 'odd' in people's (driver's) perception. Probably less than 1% of drives who woulndn't see you already, would see you as a result. given how many drivers there are.... that's not a bad thing at all. Just don't rely on it.

IMHO, it's way more of a conversation starter than a safety device. Bikes are about personal expression. If you want to look like you stepped out of a Mad Max movie, good for you.

I completely understand that the mohawk is kinda juvenile looking, but I like mine, so I keep it and I think you should do the same. I also greatly enjoy defying stereotypes, so this is just one more place to do that :O

It's all good, keep it fun.
People do all kinds of things to their cars, trucks, bikes, helmets, etc to make them their own.
If you like it then sport it, nothing wrong with rockin your individuality.

As for the poll of the 2 options of forward or back, I think sweeping back looks better.

To me the third option is irrelevant, just my 0.02
I'm all about personal expression and being different. Unfortunately this is not one of those times simply because so many ppl have them.

I also don't think it matches very well with leathers so I couldn't wear one. Those things look bad and with a wife beater and an icon vest. I wouldn't wear it but it looks bad ass. Lol

To answer the question. It's purely cosmetics like rim tape. I vote for pointed backward.

I do get a kick out of all those individuals on HD and HD wannabe products..... all wearing the same sorts of vests, and fingerless gloves, open faced helmets:hmmm:, assless chaps.....:dowhat

At some point, we may become one with the pavement -- why not gind away dead cow and fiberglass, rather than flesh and blood?

To each their own, it isn't my thing. Just be prepared for the responses that come from riding with one.
Just looks like a Leo magnets... I wouldn't.

But hey, at least you'll be wearing a helmet and they don't seem to compromise the helmet...

Ey3
Nice helmet + good jacket + clean looking bike = all good without it.

But to each their own, I can understand the appeal but it isn't for me and like some of the others said, you'll get comments or extra attention you might not want.

However, with anything like that you want it to flow so I would go with option one and have the fins facing back.

Not my taste either. Just because it might make ya look like a squid doesn't mean ya have to ride like one. If ya have to wear it, wear it proud!

But seriously, if the teeth curl backwards it might look like a giant was petting your head.

Haha :D
You do what you want, but i wouldnt wear it (the shark tooth mohawk thing that is).
Kill it with Fire.
What did you do with it, are you gonna wear it forward or back? I'm sure you made a decision by now I'm very interested in what you decided :laugh
