Does anyone know what size bolts are used to hold down the gas tank on 2009 ZX6Rs? I could swear they're not metric, because when I put in the closest metric allen wrench, there's a LOT of play.

I don't want to strip the bolt, so I thought I would ask. I've already try doing the search thing but couldn't find an answer.

Either someone replaced the bolt with an sae, or.... It is a metric half size. Eg. 3.5mm.

If someone jammed in a sae, you will need to recut the threads.

I hate sae! I even keep all my sae tools hidden in the bottom drawer!:O

Those bolts do not have much torque on them -- I honestly don't know what size they are, as I have a mix of SAE and metric allen keys in the same drawer. I just keep trying different ones until I get a good fit.

At most, I'd think you could find a 'near' fit, and tap the tool with a wrench or hammer to shock the corrosion in the threads. Shouldn't take much to get them free.
