Just replaced my brake pads recently and bought some Galfers because my old pads were wearing down and squeaking.

My new ones did fine for a day or so and now they are squeaking and squealing at stops at low speeds. Any tips on how I can fix it? My rotors are still good and dont need to be replaced yet. :crazy driving me nuts at lights.

did you scrub your rotors with 400 grit sandpaper before installing new pads??

I have had my brakes in the past squeak on me coming to a stop. Coming to find my rotors were "glazed" I had to scrub my rotors.

^^Like was said above, its a good idea to scrub the rotors with some fine sand paper or steel scrub pad..

Then seat the pads on the rotors hard, I usually do this by going 60-80mph then coming to a very hard stop to 5mph then repeat. Do this 10-12 times in a row, should do the trick.

Thats my routine anyways, works well for me...

Seeing a pattern here of people referring to squealing at low speed. I have little to no experience with low speed braking on my ZX6 as it is a dedicated track bike. Other than putting around the paddock to and from pit lane I am usually mashing the brakes out on the circuit. Not to mention, always have ear plugs in so probably wouldnt even notice anyway.

That being said, I have never noticed this on my street bikes either, so I dont know...

No, no, no, don't use sand paper on your brake pads or rotors! It can cause other issues: -Warped- Brake Disc and Other Myths

"Do not use regular sand paper or emery cloth as the aluminum oxide abrasive material will permeate the cast iron surface and make the condition worse. Do not bead blast or sand blast the discs for the same reason."

Also, depending on the type of brake pads you install, the squeaking during the first few hundred miles can be normal. When I switched from OEM to EBC HH pads it did the same thing, and this is normal.
